Any car booters out there - there are some unscrupulous beings who will try to slip you a dud note (as I learnt today!) So just be warned!

If you have as paper hanky, theres a very easy test you can do to detect dud notes
Scrunch the hanky and rub the face of the note, if there is ink on the hanky it's genuine. If theres only dirt, it's a dud.

Not saying where I learned that one from

  • Hey I'm new to this forum and this seemed like the most sensile place to post my query!
I'm going to be starting uni next month, however I will be living at home but I require money quickly in order to get some new clothes before the semester starts. A friend and myself have decided to attend a car boot sale and sell some of our belongings that we no longer use- I will get back to this in a minute.
First of all, is anyone aware of any carboot sales which take place regularly in and around the belfast area that are well promoted and busy?

Secondly, we have never done anything like this before-student life is kicking in early lol! We aren't too sure how much we should be charging for many of our items. I will list some below, all of the items are of good quality (cause otherwise we wouldn't be selling them!)

    Polaroid camera
    Gameboy advance with 3 games
    Childrens Videos-Tots tv,teletubbies,rosie+jim etc etc
CD singles mostly late 90s early 00s
CD albums approx 1998 or 1999
Kids toys-handbags, costume jewellery, make up mirror some of which still have labels on
A belt (dunno if people will be interested in clothing.)
A couple of items signed by "celebrities" such as liberty x (ok I understand its shameful, but someones bound to want it.)
    A smoothie maker.
Books such as "Being Jordan"-hardback, "A child called it", "all american girl", "princess diaries." There are also millions of romantic novels.
    Childrens books
Also we have many books from school-A level english that we no longer need but we aren't sure if anyone would be interested at a boot sale, the books are annotated but in good nick.

Those are just a few of our items. If anyone has any advice on how to maximise profit and items which could be sold but may not be commonly thought of I would appreciate it.

I can't help with the prices, but there is a car boot sale every Sunday morning in the Dunnes car park on the Crumlin Road.

I've never even been so I don't know how popular it is or any other details such as how much it costs or what time you have to get there.

So maybe someone else can supply those minor details.

As previously mentioned Ebay is your beat bet for most of your stuff, Car boot punters always want something for nothing and most of my friends buy at them to sell on Ebay and make a tidy profit

Either that or I'll give you a fiver for the lot:rotfl:
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:
