Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 21st December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Just making hubby and I a cuppa, then I shall make the packups. No work for me, woo hoo, so I shall drop hubby at the station & then go to Tesco to get some shopping, I may have a snooze later as I had a late night for me yesterday.
DD collected me from Kings Meadow last night & combind it with her trip to Tesco.
Tea tonight is lamb chops.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

It's the most wonderful time of the year
With the kids jingle belling
And everyone telling you "Be of good cheer"
It's the most wonderful time of the year :rudolf:
Morning :santa2:
In my calendar - a cracker :xmassmile
We had a great day yesterday
Miss tru was ready to leave the house by midday  We spent a couple of hours in town then came home to toasties, chocolate and The Nightmare Before Christmas
I usually work on thursdays but we're closed tomorrow so they said I can work today instead, that way I don't have to waste a holiday day. It's been very quiet this week though - who wants to buy carpet the week before Christmas? - so I'm going to be very bored. Think I'll spend the day on FB

Morning Hester, Tru and everyone who follows.
I have just had a catch up of yesterdays thread, was so busy I didnt get a chance to post yesterday.
Bramble, your snack plate looks delicious. I really am missing all the christmas foods, somehow, ramen noodles doesnt hold the same appeal and mince pies pigs in blankets. Im definitely starting to have a bit of a wobble about spending my first christmas away from the my family.
FB I would definitely use up all the food that you have in your cupboards, it means a few less boxes that you have to have to lug around.
A lot of people seemed to need hugs and positive vibes yesterday so please feel free to take as many as you need.
I came home yesterday to find my gas bill was 10 times the usual monthly bill :eek: Had a slight panic attack and was worried sick all night, especially as I haven't even really had my heating on, ive been using an electric heater. Came into work and asked a collegue to phone up to find out what was going, there was a mistake and I am being issued a new bill. :j:j
Today I came to work and had to finish some online training, but it wasnt working, another phonecall had to be made. The language barrier is really getting to me at the moment, I feel like such a burden having to ask a colleague to phone people up for me and sort things out, it really isn't fair to them.
Tonight will be cleaning my little apartment, writing some Christmas cards for my students and eating a pizza that was on sale, BOGOF.
Have a great day everyone.0 -

Finding my way - please feel free to come on here on Xmas day as I'm sure there will be people on here! I'm sure I'll be on as the children will be up at the crack of dawn.
What does today hold? Well as all parents will know when youhave children housework is a never ending job - so I've the house to clean and tidy today, then this afternoon I'll take the boys off to visit my friend. I'm taking dinner and bottles and we're staying overnight. OH is behaving like scrooge so I'm leaving him at home. Dinner tonight will be lovely beef and tomato casserole - made with oops'd beef from mr T. Last few years I've just not felt christmassy at all - not sure if its the commercialism of things or just the added pressures of life!
So yet another thing I have to do - make self feel christmassy! Oh weres my coffee??? have a good day all
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

Morning

I finally have both my boys are home until the new year :j
DH left at 6am this morning to do the weekly food shop before the hoards turn up! How sweet is he?? :A
Yesterday I reported that Roo had dropped really low... and it seems that all the contractions stopped with it (although I am very uncomfortable now and my pelvis hurts). After 2 days of painful contractions which were not actually going anywhere it is a relief
And I ended up getting DH to shave my legs... poor man looked horrified at the prospect of cutting me!! But as i'm a red-head I won't have to do them again before Roo is born... too much hassle
Today we are visiting distant relations who live down the road for a pre-christmas chat! I really wish I had made that Fudge yesterday to give them a small gift, and I don;t know if we have time to make them this morning!
Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day x

Morning all,
Going to the hairdressers to have highlights done at 12.00 so I have set myself a list of to do before I go. Tackle ironing, put stuff I don't need for xmas back in the loft, clean bathrooms and vacume bedrooms.
DH and I will shop for last minute xmas food, veg milk etc. I'm hoping to persuade DH to clean the outside windows, I did the insides y/day.
Just 3 presents to wrap, I got some Group0n vouchers for my DM & OH, it's a helicopter tour over Mapledurham Estate and the River Thames then a tour of the house followed by cream tea. It really was a bargain. DD1 has a 2 hr beauty treatment in Bath and DGD has Theatre tickets for 2. I've saved the cardboard rolls from kitchen paper so I'll roll the certificates and wrap them like crackers. Job done.
BRAMBLE, I can't remember where the firework factory was, I would get the train to Twyford then be picked up by the works coach and driven into the countryside, the factory had to be a certain distance from any other buildings. I just remember having lots of huts in several fields. I know the Wheelwright Arm, DH and I used to go there. My MiL used to work in the Garden Nursery behind Sawpit Road where she, then we lived. Hope your wounds are healing well.
FINDINGMYWAY, I'll pull a virtual cracker with you. x
Off to catch up on here and put BM on.
Have a good day all.0 -
