  • Royal Mail have posted all but one of my online orders (which I was hoping to receive today but no luck - dispatched by Amazon on 13th, and was due to be here by 17th).

I'm assuming it's lost in the post, but credit to Amazon who've apologised and sanctioned a refund today.

I run an online shop and Royal Mail are known as Rotten Mail in our house and Parcelforce is Parcelfarce.

Have constant problems with both. Used Parcelfarce for a parcel to Sweden for an urgent job for a client. Was on a 2 day service and 11 days later it arrived. Client not happy. We also have constant problem with Rotten Mail and every time I phone and complain they do comment about how long our complaints list is.

I also stock one item that looks like a large bar of Cadbury's chocolate and I can almost guarantee that it will go missing unless sent recorded or guaranteed delivery.

Have to say for all the complaints I put in nothing changes.

I am still waiting for a signed for parcel posted in december 2010. I never got a card to collect while a previous one was left outside and was never singed for. Sent a claim to royal mail early this month and got 6 first class stamps postage refund and the parcel was worth £30.20 and tracking says it's still on its way back to sender. I lost another one I posted in january 11 worth £40,it never arrived.

We find this is a common solution for Rotten Mail and it doesn't cover the cost of the items, the cost of postage, the hassle of filling out the forms etc or the time taken. Its an insult in my opinion.

And yet you persist in using them? Why?

If you're running a business why not get some quotes from a proper international carrier service like DHL or UPS or Fedex who will actually take your parcel to it's destination via a properly tracked and insured service, rather than ParcelFarce who's contact with it ends when it leaves the country.

You may think they'll be expensive but you may well be suprised about the cost, and at least your parcels stand a chance of arriving (and in a sensible timescale, typically 2-3 days for most of Europe and the USA). Failing that, use a parcel broker to book them, like InterParcel or Parcel2Go, they all book onto the main carriers for UK and International services.

For UK parcels you should be able to negotiate direct rates below £5 for <5Kg with all those carriers.

if the packet is small, the foot postie should deliver it - however, the foot postie cannot deliver an item that has not been physically received in the delivery office. Round this way, packets were incredibly light this morning.

So, if a packet arrives on a saturday, yes, it should be delivered - though, it all depends on the numerous factors that affect different offices (such as revisions).

you are describing pre park & loop
in P&L there is no foot postie/van driver
    its one and the same
