Must be incredibly hectic round our way, best of luck to them
Are you sitting comfortably ....then I will tell you a sad tale.
A few people around here noticed the big gap followed by an avalanche followed by the summary dismissal of one of the local posties.
The people I spoke to were surprised to say the least since the postie concerned rode a push bike 16 miles a day to deliver mail in this rural area and was one of the nicest of people and very reliable.
When he couldn't cope and had some post left over he put it in a local post box and went home. Later he claimed he was sick but the bosses said he should have mentioned this before they caught him by posting their own test letters.
They didn't give him much quarter, he was out on his ear straight away which was very harsh treatment.
We got a replacement. A much younger man and a van. It's not my fault your honour, they made me do it.0 -
I think they are bad this year too - at least last year there was the excuse of snow!
I ordered quite a few things on the 13th and hardly any has arrived
One of them was from the House of Fraser and was delivered to Royal Mail on 17th and they haven't delivered it onwards.
House of Fraser have even phoned Royal Mail and they can't even tell if it will be delivered before Christmas, they will only tell them that they have the parcel.Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
There's one item on the way but since it's surface mail I'm not expecting it until the new year. For me it's been nowhere near as bad as Xmas 08 when I posted a packet to someone in late November and it took 11 days. All my cards including the promotional ones, they've been arriving without a hitch, but then again there were less overall this year and many more cards were saved until we saw each other so it was all done by hand.0

Further to my op, I can now confirm that the package has been delivered, I repeat, the package has been delivered ....... Posties? salt of the earth, won't hear a word said agin 'em!
* I can also confirm that at no time was the mental wellbeing of any postie (or ex postie) compromised during the production of this thread.0 -

I am still waiting for a signed for parcel posted in december 2010. I never got a card to collect while a previous one was left outside and was never singed for. Sent a claim to royal mail early this month and got 6 first class stamps postage refund and the parcel was worth £30.20 and tracking says it's still on its way back to sender. I lost another one I posted in january 11 worth £40,it never arrived.0

Do RM deliver small packets(DVD) on a Saturday or is it just letters as round here it seems that no packets come on a Saturday.0
-
if the packet is small, the foot postie should deliver it - however, the foot postie cannot deliver an item that has not been physically received in the delivery office. Round this way, packets were incredibly light this morning.
So, if a packet arrives on a saturday, yes, it should be delivered - though, it all depends on the numerous factors that affect different offices (such as revisions).0
