It's what the forum seems to have come too. Stick to hounding him guys, he won't be allowed in anyones gang.

Stick with it guys. Once everyone gets bored of geneers latest revelation and the spotlight moves on, so will geneer. Think about it logically, he can't be in the bear gang anymore because no one will believe that he really wants house prices to fall now that he has 'bought'. He can't be in the Bull gang because, well simply because. He can't be neutral because he really doesn't have any interest in the economy other than the movement of house prices and let's be honest, neutrals are not that interested in the minutae of HP movements.

There is nowhere left for him to go. He has the choice to stay around and desperately try and get some of the attention he craves by making increasingly outlandish claims, but this will just result in greater amounts of ridicule until he is simply seen as the forum fool (well, even more so) and eventually gets banned. The alternative is that he leaves with some shred of dignity. My money is on the former.

I don't think it would bother geneer in the slightest, he seems to be quite alienated already and it doesn't concern him. For the record I think he did buy. Why on earth would anyone make it up, it's not as if he's claimed to have bought a palace, far from it he has bought a modest house after years of saving. The timing of the announcement is strange, but then so is geneer.

I'm a bit bored by the whole thing to be honest. It's time to focus on what's important.

I don't really care one way or another whether he has bought, and find it odd that others have been spending years discussing it across various boards. However, I did find the whole 'I bought 2 years ago' revelation very amusing but agree with you that its sell by date has now passed and it's getting a bit boring now.

What I do find interesting, as a neutral, is the psychology of the whole Bear and Bull 'West Side Story' gangland thing going on in here and will be very interested in what now happens to a staunch Bear when they actually buy a house. It'll be a mildly interesting diversion to see how it all pans out for geneer once they all get bored of his latest revelation.

I don't think there is much difference of opinion in what's going to happen, the bull/bear thing is more historical than current. Apart from a few nutters who think prices will fall another 30%, I think most accept that prices will either stagnate or fall slightly nominally for the next few years.

I was classed by most as a bull but in 2008/9 I was saying prices would fall 35-40% nominally from peak, as it turns out I was wrong, as they didn't fall anywhere near that.

Replied his pal on the internet forum.

Yeah, you're living the life chaps.

None of which denies the fact that you lead a weirdly obsessive and excessive internet life.

If people on here think that you're weird, then you're definitely weird.

Perhaps this is why some folk are giving up and buying. I find it amusing when I'm classed as a Bull, when the reality is that I have said many times I have no real interest in house prices except when I am looking to move house (twice so far). I guess this is why I find it so interesting to see what a self-confessed property bear does once they have bought. After investing so much time and effort into posting, can they really just walk away once they have bought? If they continue to post, what sort of content is in their posts? Will anyone believe them if they continue to cheerlead further HP falls, in the knowledge that their LTV is being eroded, perhaps to the point where they end up in negative equity?

As I say, a mildly interesting diversion while I work towards my MFW goal. :)

Well I certainly have an interest in HPI because I eventually want to sell up when the market picks up. But having a vested interest doesn't influence what I expect or say will happen, as I said I expect prices to fall slightly in the next few years nominally.

In the longer run as I have previously stated I expect prices (in London) to be about 10% lower (in real terms) than peak when I eventually sell in about 10-15 years time.

    The lag.
    Ah yes.
That well known phenomenon where you have to add months on to when you bought a house to really get an idea of when you bought.
    :rotfl:
Seems that extra £20k matters quite a lot eh?

And yep I'm more than happy with the dance off..... you started one and I thought you'd like it if I started another..... didn't realise you were quite so touchy on how they came about :D

Oh dear. Poor old JB. Can't bring himself to accept that housing statistics lag offers/acceptance.

How very strange. Its almost as if he has an emotional investment in this one.

Still, he's pulled himself back from the brink of trying to start a "who's is bigger" internet dance off.
So he might have a modicum more self awareness that I give him credit for.
