the only time I've seen this in use is scammers claiming money back on eBay purchases after I've sent them out.

You can also have a right to ask your bank to make a chargeback, returning your money if you do not receive goods or services as expected, if goods are lost or the wrong goods are received. That covers pretty much anything you can think of, from an airline going bust to a mail order jumper that does not arrive. Most purchases made abroad are also covered.


Sad but I believe First Direct staff wrong on this occasion as they are normally top notch

Just a big thank you to everyone at MSE as yesterday we received all our money back from Comet. We followed all of the charge back information to try and receive our money back from Comet via Natwest, and yesterday a total of £354.99 went into the bank

we ordered head phones from the internet on 8 december but they didnt turn up in January we received a letter to advise that they had been held by customs as they were counterfeit and because of this we couldnt have them (obviously). would i be entitled to claim back through visa chargeback we paid 99.95

Get the forms from your bank and fill them in asap. You haven't got anything else to lose by doing so.

Hi there, does anyone know if the dispute HAS to be within 120 days of the purchase or 120 days of finding out there is an issue? booked a hotel more than 120 days in advance through an agent, got to hotel to find agent had cancelled the booking without refunding or notifying us. hotel kindly gave us the original discounted rate, but currently doubly out of pocket.

just found on the which website that it is up to 120 days after you find out there is an issue, not from purchase. as a new forum user can't post links but just Google chargeback time limit or search on which.co.uk

Can anyone advise on this situation please:
Bought a s/h car, £3000. Paid £200 deposit on natwest VISA DEBIT card, not credit.
Car is faulty and dealer has had it 1 month without fixing the situation.

I've received conflicting advice about what protection I have from the card.

Some say I can 'chargeback' £200 as 'the goods are faulty'.
Some say I can 'chargeback' the full purchase price for the same reason as above.
Others say I have no protection whatsoever as it wasn't a credit card.

Any info or a point in the right direction would be really appreciated, thanks.

The story:

1. Placed a telephone order last Friday for Fridge-freezer & washing machine from Jade Technology. (£709-)
2. supposed to be delivered this Saturday to my new home. (First time buyer:beer:)
3. Received a post today (Thursday) that Jade Technology is "having regard to its financial position, has decided to take steps to place the Company into Creditors' Voluntary Liquidation."...:eek::mad:
4. Will go tomorrow to my bank... to see if I can save my money...

• About Jade Technology:
  • No Telephone reply
  • It was removed from PriceRunner...
  • Earlier it had a fantastic reviews in pricerunner!
  • I followed Jade Technology before placing the order for approximately 2 months! I asked them few questions about the fridge, delivery, etc...

Would appriciate your advise...
