I have been in dispute with a company over the amount they have charged to my credit card. I have asked them to show me a breakdown which they finally did, although the breakdown is less than they charged me....so I am still in dispute with them with the last correspondence from me to them in Dec asking them to give me senior managers contact details so that I can resolve this with them - still waiting this info (possible misselling too). At the same time Amex contacted the retailer for this info. They did not give it to them.
Amex have successfully processed a chargeback against them as due process not followed by the retailer and I have the money from Amex. Now the company are chasing me direct for the money and Amex say they cannot help me.
Any advice?0 -
Even with Chargebackk PayPal are a problem.I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole now since somebody fraudulent used my PayPal account and I ended up being charged £1595 by PayPal for something I hadn't ordered. They tried to deny that there had been any fraud but under Natwest's Chargeback scheme I managed to prove that the transaction was fraudulent and was refunded. Unfortunately the onus was on me to prove that the fraud had occurred so it was a lengthy and costly process. Even after my bank had proved that fraud had occurred PayPal still denied that there had been any fraud. I never received either an apology from them or an offer of reimbursement for the costs I had incurred proving my case. DON'T USE THEM.0

as a matter of interest how did you do this?0 -
We unfortunately got caught out back in 2010 in the Crown Currency scandal. I really am interested to know if 'chargeback' was in force at the time, and if so, how come we were not informed? I do not recall seeing any info either thro MSE or the Crown Currency victims group.
Sorry if this note is in the wrong place, not sure if this counts as a reply or a new thread!0 -
We are looking to purchase a second hand car from a local franchise. We want to pay by cash or debit card rather than a loan or credit card.
If the car has problems when we get it can chargeback be used if we have problems.I'm stressed enough over this - please don't add to it.:eek:0 -

Chargebacks apply to payments made by debit or credit cards not FP.0 -
Hi,
I wonder if anyone can tell me if I'm entitled to apply for a chargeback on a visa debit if my current account is now closed?
Purchase made in Dec '14
service not provided (Groupon Deal)
I closed my Nationwide acc in June '15.
Bank have told me no as I'm no longer covered by T&C'S.
Is this correct?

I ordered some car parts which cost just about £3000.00, they arrived today and I found a few items not in the delivery. I further found some items broke or dented. I contacted the supplier and they told me "they were not like that when we shipped them" Contact the courier, heres their number. I called them and they said "Their driver has reported everything went well with your delivery and you signed to say you were happy" I replied I never signed anything, I asked the driver if he had the check list as to what I was getting, (My supplier told me to ask for it too) and when he said he didn't I said wait then and I'll go and get mine and we can check off whats here. I went into the house to get my copy and on coming out the driver was driving off. After ringing around and around its just one blaming another and I'm no further forward. Its the supplier and 2 couriers !
I purchased through ebay but they wouldn't accept PayPal just Credid or Debit card
Does anyone think I can claim Chargeback as I had paid for the goods with my Barclays Visa Debit card ? Or any other type of action I can take ? I'm disabled and don't want to loose this amount of money....0 -
Hi.
I purchased a second hand car from a dealer on Friday, paying the amount across two different vis a debits from 2 different banks. (Natwest and Halifax)
The car is faulty. The dealer has attempted 2 repairs so far, I've given them one more chance.
Would I be able to claim the money back via chargeback? Would it matter that I used 2 banks?
My other option is small claims court. The rac solicitor I spoke to thinks I've got a good sound case for scc. The chargeback article says that if the bank won't pay for any reason I can't pursue the issue through the courts. Does this include scc?0
