I would never rearrange a job interview and if the WP didn't like it then let them take me on!!!

What if the employer said we are only 3 people on Tuesday morning and that was the day you went to the WP, you'd say sorry I cant make it! Ooops
i think if you explain to them you have to go somewhere else and if you miss it you would be sanctioned then i think they woull be willing to rearrange it for you. if they werent willing to rearrange despite that explaination then i would take that as a sign that they are probably a bad employer.

    thats not always possible though!

I have job search on Wed, I have just started taking some medication which has nasty stomach side effects when you first start taking it and I have been warned not to go too far away from a loo for the first week. I may be one of he lucky ones that adjust to it quickly and I might be fine by wed but if I'm not it will be physically impossible for me to get to the WP. If they tried to sanction me I will pull the disability card on them and see how they like that!
yes you would win an appeal. obviously if an illness was severe enough you would have to miss it and hope they are fair with you. you would have to make sure you phoned in and let them know.

You really think an employer would be interested in that sob story?

I think you need to address the WP and tell them you will miss out on a job if you DON'T attend the job interview when the emplyer says so.

Any fool would know that surely getting a job and going to interview is a million times more important than going to ANY WP appointment and if your adviser wont allow you to go to the WP another date they then surely do not want you to get a job!!!

Reply to number 1 is yes I can as they have made NO effort in regards to contacting employers. They thought I was looking for a job behind a bar or in a restaurant.

I have even asked them and they say they don't know what to do with me and just carry on what I am doing hence meaning they are doing nothing.
they may not have made any efforts for you specifically but they may have made general enquiries with employers and specific enquiries for other clients.

If you have sickness and upset stomache I think thats severe enough not to be on public transport for an hour with no toilet available!

i agree. its just not unheard of for someone to find themselves having to appeal a sanction. personally i would turn up and risk puking all over their desk. i would tell them at the beginning of the appointment that i was unwell to give them a chance to let me go.

How do we know that? Someone I know, her sister goes to the same provider as me. She used to be in charge of the tills at a fast food chain till she was made redundant and they are doing nothing for her either.

If you have managed to get there, you are not ill enough to go home and if you were that worried you wouldn't have chanced the journey

It IS unheard of as I have never heard of it so untill I do I will say they can reschedule

Just found some jobs advertised by my provider.

    Senior Employment Consultant
    Job sepc:
Experience in the employment sector – desirable, or in recruitment / sales – essential.
    • Good standard of education and computer literate.
    • Supervisory skills/experience desirable.
    • Knowledge of local labour market, with an understanding of employer needs and skills.
    • Positive, motivated and able to enthuse customers
    • Ability to negotiate with and influence clients, partners, staff and managers.
    Salary £21k-25k

    Employment Consultant 2012
    Job Sepc:
Experience in recruitment, sales or employment sectors.
    · Good standard of education and computer literate
    · Target driven and self motivated
    · Strong communication and influencing
    Salary £18k-£24k

Seems you just have to be a sales person and have LOCAL knowledge but I am not looking at local work, I am looking at ALL of London so how are they going to help anyone who is looking further afield?

Not big salaries are they? The jobs don't seem to be worth much, eh?

That's just an example of what they are advertising. Seems they are taking on a lot of people and at a guess they probably jumped the gun in October last year whent they made a lot of people redundant and now find they have no one to do the job!

    Lets all apply! LOL

well we dont know for sure but they are likely to be. the amount of effort made will vary from one provider to another as well. it could be argued that the providers who do little are more clued up. why? because its a sign that they realise its an impossible task.
