I signed last Friday and saw no letters anywhere.
the job centre wont be calling people will they? who would have the time to do that?
Also how you will know they have called? You have to have an answering machine for that.
You can still miss a call 'unknonw' on a mobile too.
no what i said about being phoned was to do with the work programme adviser. they can phone you up at anytime about a job.
you are right about the issues that can arise when someone calls. that is why its unfair what was said today by t he wp adviser. basically she may phone once get no reply. she will then try again later and get no reply. that could result in a sanction as she will say you are uncontactable. if she leaves a message and you dont get back to her within 24 hours that will also result in a sanction. i just thought you can try. anyone clued up should be able to beat it.0 -

The UC sanctions I posted about some time ago due to come into force in 2013 have been brought forward and 'go live' from next Tuesday the 23rd October.
Under the new regime:
Higher level sanctions (for example for leaving a job voluntarily) will lead to claimants losing all of their JSA for a fixed period of 13 weeks for a first failure, 26 weeks for a second failure and 156 weeks for a third and subsequent failure (within a 52 week period of their last failure).
Intermediate level sanctions of four weeks for a first failure, rising to 13 weeks for a second or subsequent failures (within a 52 week period of their last failure) may be applied following a period of disallowance for not actively seeking employment or not being available for work.
Lower level sanctions (for example for failing to attend an adviser interview) will lead to claimants losing all of their JSA for a fixed period of four weeks for the first failure, followed by 13 weeks for subsequent failures (within a 52 week period of their last failure)
If the claimants JSA is stopped because they have failed to meet their responsibilities, they must still attend the Jobcentre for their fortnightly jobsearch review, and attend any appointments to avoid losing benefit for a longer period. They will be entitled to a full explanation of why their benefit was stopped. They are not automatically entitled to financial help but if they can show that they are suffering hardship, the adviser or hardship officer can explain how they can apply for a hardship payment.
You each should receive a new revised ES40 leaflet explaining that a change in the law means that although the conditions for receiving benefit are not changing, benefit may be stopped for up to three years if these conditions are not met.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I try to be an even-handed poster and accept that you at times may not agree with these opinions or how I choose to express them, this is not my problem. donnajunkie wrote: »i laughed at this and thought not if they sign off they dont. i am sure anyone who has reached the 30 years worth of ni contributions will just sign off. under the new rules how long do sanctions follow you around for? well obviously if you got a 3 year sanction and signed off for a week when you sign back on the sanction would restart from where it left off. i remember a jobcentre worker telling me a break of 6 months before reclaiming would mean you start with a clean slate, but that was a while ago. also i am obviously not including people who successfully manage to get hardship payments in this as they will obviously keep signing on.
yep- thats what my hubby did- having established that he had 39 years of contributions he signed off and took great delight in telling the WP provider he was doing so!0 -
What do u hope to get from these ni contributions.0
