^ In your situation you could get your son to pay a significant amount towards the mortage if hes working and your husband isnt.
Your savings will only last for so long and it will be better option than your family having the house reposessed in a few months time.

my son contributes towards the household income, but I would feel very uncomfortable about him paying more than half of his income TOWARDS our mortgage -if necessary he will pay more.

Also, I want him to be able to save towards a home of his own too - I realise that this probably seems illogical to you, but I feel very strongly that it is our responsibility ( as his parents) to provide a roof over his head rather than vice versa

My husband is trying VERY hard to secure another job and we shall use our savings for as long as we can before asking our son to contribute more than he does - if necessary we will sell our home and buy something with the equity in our house that won't require a mortgage - or just a smaller mortgage

I went to sign on today and got a piece on paper, basically thrown at me, saying that I have to attend a interview regarding this work programme business next month.
Wouldn't have minded but the cheeky bi..... er, person watched me read the thing and I said "oh, ok, 25th july" and then snapped my head off with the statement "July means next month":mad:
No wonder I get snappy back with them. She wouldn't even explain roughly what this programme entails. I'm (maybe wrongly) assuming it's a waste of time? can someone confirm that please?
I wouldn't mind so much, but I only get my NI paid.

LadyMissA is the forums Little Miss Sunshine.

I pm'd her the other day with suggestions and a possible job offer through a company who work as bookkeepers near maybe where she lives.

She brought up an earlier post where I'd accused her of lying.

I would never ever employ someone like her!

She obviously has delusions of grandeur and imagines herself 'titled' hence her name and attitude. :rotfl:

    Why are they so rude?

Luckily when I was signing on for a month or 2 I had a nice advisor or 2 never patronising or rude. Still I am pleased I'm away and in proper job now.

No my post was made redundant as they lost business & a new accounts system was taken on to reduce the work load and this person was not taken on till last month to replace someone who was on maternity and not coming back. I have not been there since 2010 July.

They paid them this amount as they want them to stay in the job and not leave after 6 mths. The is the first 'junior' they have ever employed as all staff before were qualified.

They get no other benefits other than holiday.

I've had no Payrise for 2 years, 1 cash bonus and nothing else bar holidays.

In a small or larger company that is the norm these days as other jobs v hard to come by.
  • @dontone , I have just been placed onto the work program approching the end of month 1 , and it is a joke.

Job search , Done better in the jobcenter as the work programme just give up a ream of printouts.

Help overcoming barriers . None , and its widely acknowledged our areas transport is far far far from acceptable.

I don't know of your area but in south wales the work programme is a waste of space as they can't help people get jobs , they cant even help people overcome barriers.

I've no idea. I've had them giving me rollockings for missing an appointment last year because I was in hospital having tests for ovarian cancer (apparently laying in a hospital bed is not an good enough excuse for missing appointments  even though I told them about it) to one threatening to remove my "benefits" because I had an accident with that diary thing they gave me - my fault entirely for spilling tea on it on the morning I was due to sign. But I did give them details of what I did.
My response to removal threat was a kind of go ahead because she failed to notice that I don't get anything except NI. Her face was an absolute picture. Never seen anybody go crimson that fast before
I'm not a person who likes conflict, but there are times when I really have to bite my tongue in there. Some of them forget that we unlucky ones are part of the reason they are actually working. I think that some of them are a bit out of their depth in dealing with all kinds of people (tbh it must be a horrible job) but there's not need for the rudeness.

Oh so if you do not have a lot of experience in the jobs you are going for thats the answer

I wish you all the best of luck on here and some more than others (you know who you are the ones who were ever nice)

I will not be back - said it before but now I really mean it.

    Believe in karma

I have experience but not the many many years you said I had, I aint that old besides you claim to have lots of experience and you dont get any of the 2400 jobs you apply for each year.

Isn't it lovely that the Government are providing Work Programme training organisations and funding them to help people into work. We live in such a good social system. How on earth could anyone complain. Maybe those that complain should try going it alone with no benefits and no companies helping them find work.
