They tried this with me,i choose not to answer.
you have no obligation to deal with them by phone, anything which is so called important to them, they have to put in writing and send by post.0 -
there are loads of times I've missed phone calls on my mobile when I've been out and about. If I'm in a noisy area and my phone is in my bag I don't always hear it.
I would simply say I didn't hear the phone if for some reason I didn't want to answer it or that it was on silent because I was in the job centre/interview/appointment. I'm not a kid they can't tell me off for not answering calls. If its something important they could always email me if they can't reach me by phone, or leave me a message on my answering machine.
Your totally right.and you will see your emails when you see them.:)
Make them write,it costs them money.0 -

Hi , well as time goes on these providers are going to get truly stuffed as the dole ques grow and people get past over to the providers who will still be dealing with their original stock of jobless, the penny will drop soon.
As for having a net connection, the day is comin closer where i wont be able to afford one, so they will be writing all the time which will mean longer delay between appointments taking longer and costing them more.0 -

Not exactly the same experience with my provider, but when i was on jobclub about 15 years ago they told us to do exactly that with the yellow pages, cold calling is part and parcel of job seeking so try it you may come away with a job.0 -

If they sanctioned you for not getting back to them within a hour that would be unreasonable.0 -
that sounds perfectly reasonable to me. You are expected to be contactable while on JSA to be invited to interviews etc so as long as you get back to them within say 24 hours I don't see what the problem is.

donnajunkie wrote: »the problem comes about when comparing a mobile to a landline. if you dont answer their call on a landline you can say you were out and that is believable. with a mobile you cant say that. if you say things like i didnt hear it ring or i was on the toilet they are going to think you are fibbing. they will, also expect a call back within 10 minutes. with a landline you can put them off until the next day if you wish. this means you have more control if you dont give them your mobile number.0
