Good grief - a straight answer is now apparently 'mean' on MSE. Well, all things considered, I for one am jolly glad that the OP is managing to follow this thread despite his dyslexia.

You wouldnt just take a job and not read the contract;.....

Would you care to take bets on that? I'm a lawyer and I know exactly how many people take jobs and don't read the contract :) It is a lot more than those who take jobs and do read the contract. Congratulations if you are amongst them - you are a rarer breed than you know.

I've heard too many horror stories about people not reading contracts to just ignore one. Plus, if you get caught short in work one day it helps to have read it so they cant try and screw you over as one job did!

Do you think it's unfair though? That is the question. I am not blaming you. I am blaming the Tory party because they are in Government.

The rules about failing to sign have been the same for years,......

My final thoughts on the matter.

I have found very little compassion here. Only abuse and a total lack of understanding.
I do not understand what the point is in blaming me for my mistake. Who says I don't take responsibility for it? Not once did I say I take no responsibility or it is the fault of the JSA people.
I do believe the advisor was not clear. (does this mean i don't take responsibility or that i blame her?)
And I do believe having dyslexia put me at a disadvantage. (does this mean I am using it as an excuse?)
I do believe that it is unjust to take 3 weeks money away from me because of a genuine mistake.
The people on this forum just focus on blame. its my problem, it's tough !!!!, learn a lesson from it. You give examples from your own life and take the attitude that if you can do it then I should be able to do it. I am not you and you are not me. My experience is different from yours. And vice-versa.
Listen to yourselves. You are authoritarian. I can see you all beat a kid for doing something naughty and then tell him 'well you'll learn a lesson from that wont you?' Pathetic! You lack compassion. You just blame, blame, blame. It's this sort of attitutde that has messed up this country.
DCFC79- You said I need to take responsibility for missing the appointments and learn from the error.
What do you mean by take responsibility? How am I not taking responsibility?
What do you mean by learn from the error? How have I not? It's not like I can prevent mistakes from happening.
It sounds like the beat the kid scenario I was talking about.
The ConDems are the same as the TORIES in my opinion.
How am I blaming the Government for missing an appointment? I am blaming the Government for the hard-nosed attitude they take when someone genuinly misses a sign on date.
You said 'yOU ARE Given a number to call if you need to ask a question'.
    Obviously.
Did I say I had any questions to ask? I had no questions to ask anyone because I was convinced my next sign on date was at the same time I had an appointment with the advisor.
So to all you people who say ask questions, phone this person or whatever, look at your book - your advise was absolutely meaningless pivel.
DCFC79 again! Another silly question from you. Why didnt I ask the advisor when I was to next come in? BECAUSE I believed I had to come in when my next appointment with her was. Do you understand?I did not ask her because I thought I knew the correct date. I think I have explained that several times on this forum!!!!
jamespir- yet again what do you mean? if i did not understand something why didn't I ask? Did i say i didn't understand something? At the time i thought i understood everything, but only AFTER the mistake was made did I realise I did not.
Vejovis- ha,ha, so funny. Is it your hooves clip clopping over that bridge?
tizerbelle- You preach. I don't get what you are saying at all. It just sounds like you are telling me that so what if I have dyslexia. I am an adult and responsible for my own life. I KNOW THAT. So what are you saying? Why do you think I don't ask questions? I do and I did.
When a person makes a mistake they don't know they have made a mistake until it is made. What use is your advise when it's about not making a mistake in the first place? That's all very well, but it's no use to anyone when the mistake has already been made.
I suppose you never make mistakes? And if you do I suppose you beat yourself up and send yourself to bed!!
IanGrant- thank you very much. I was starting to think this forum was full of people who lack compassion.
Mara69- Oooh what a dig! And OP is not a he but a she.
What is it with everyone on this forum ranting at me and using the words 'EXCUSE' 'RESPONSIBILITY', 'ACT LIKE AN ADULT' 'YOUR RESPONSIBILITY' It's the sort of words a strict unloving parent would use to their naughty child. Pathetic!

The reply sounded mean because it was blunt and lacked uderstanding.
    I haven't got an answer.
My Jobseekers Allowance was stopped for three weeks because my personal advisor did not make it clear to me that I have to sign on every two weeks regardless of whether I have an appointment with her or not.

Is there anyone in the country who doesn't know signing on is every 2 weeks?

Also for a dyslexic person your posts are more literate than most on these boards.

nice spiel for a dyslexic person. and judging by the times on your posts you read pretty quickly and type fast for someone with dyslexia
Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest.

I'm sorry but you're not acting like an adult you're acting like a spoiled brat who can't handle facing up to the out come of you not 'thinking' or opening your mouth to clarify what the adviser was saying to you.

If you didn't sign and left it for 3 weeks your claim was closed, nobody sanctioned you.

I was thinking the same thing, if someones dyslexia is bad enough that they can't understand simple instructions they can't manage to type like the op.

My friend is dyslexic.....it has taken a while to get used to his spelling and he does type slowly but we get there.

Too many say they are dyslexic when they really aren't.
