p.s. did your bank protect your deposit when you took out your mortgage? if not, you should sue them for 3x the deposit paid?
Sadly that won't work - I took the mortgage out back in the days of 100% mortgages. So no deposit.

i think you should contact GASSAFE and get them involved.. after all, its your RIGHT to have heat for christmas, as well as a rent free week...... and then contact the Environmental Hazards Jockeys and get them to force the lender to send round half a dozen nice thermostatically controlled heaters, some luvverly thick velvet curtains, and a butler to make your breakfast in bed... you are in shock, of course, and need such home comforts at this awful time.......
  • Whilst I realise going against the majority on an amusing thread potentially demonstrates a sense of humour failure, which isn't the case, I did feel the need to drag myself out of lurkerdome to express sadness at posters I read on a daily basis who usually offer great advice to tenants, having a joke at what feels like their expense.

I'm sure there are plenty of tenants who have the wherewithall to arrange and fund repairs to appliances, but, as a tenant this isn't within their remit to do so and I'm sure many of the regular posters on this thread would be amongst the first to advise the correct route for resolution to a tenant who presented with this problem.

Sloping back off to lurk and read all your usually fantastic advice...

of course we would give the proper advice to someone in genuine need... you know that to be the case, as you follow our posts.

a little levity - what is wrong with that.. comedians take the mickey out of Every sort of person on this planet and we all laugh... why not tenants occasionally ?

sometimes it is difficult to understand a particular tenant-mind - and humour is a good way to deal with difficult things - you should hear the 'humour' in a CID office if you want to hear Real black humour....

indulge us.... just for once.... its christmas.....
  • I do agree that the mindset of some people can be baffling and I'm sure as a landlord it must be incredibly frustrasting dealing with a tenant who believes they're entitled to the world, yet with no responsibilities in return

And totally agree that black humor can be excellent - perhaps I'm just raising issue with the quality of the p!ss-taking - maybe it's just not actually funny enough - go for it, do your worst! :)
  • You don't think the quality of humour is good enough? How dare you!

Well, I rent and think this thread is an absolute hoot!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
