Boiler gone - how long is fair

My (oil) boiler has been spouting black smoke out of the flue, and not really getting the radiators hot, so I called out the boilerman.

He's found the pump was faulty, was overworking, and the excess heat had melted componants in the boiler.

How long is it fair for me to be without heating? Christmas is coming and it's cold outside, but my mortgage lender doesn't seem to care.

Surely they should make sure the repair guy gets the parts asap and gets the heat back on?

Your on your own on this one m8, no LL to complain to and demand compensation from.
  • I think it's disgusting that your mortgage lender doesn't care, especially in this season of goodwill. Tell them IN WRITING that you want some electric heaters until the boiler is repaired and if they don;t do the repair by Christmas Eve, you will withold your next month's mortgage payment. Hope this helps.

I don't get it, what has your broken boiler got to do with your mortgage provider?

I'm new to all this but why would the mortgage lender care? It's your house you need to fix it surely?

No, that's the difference between owning and renting :D Maybe if you offered to hand over the profits from the increase in value of your property to the lender then they would pay for the boiler repair?
  • Surely the Oil supplier should be fixing things at their expense??

How can you be expected to burn their Oil if the boiler don't work>>???? They fix it, they pay.. Stands ter reason dunnitt??
