No house price crash and no need for HPC website.

You sure they stayed the same, or are you resetting the clock to 2011?

This forum used to be good value for some banter and a bit of discussion around a few central topics. However it is becoming a pretty miserable place to hang out now.
    ...

I feel the bundling of the housing topic with the wider economy doesn't always work.

Occasionally, you will read something of genuine insight, posted by people like Generali who are much more informed than me. It makes you think. The quality posts are worth the mass fodder.

What I don't get is the animosity shown to those who choose to wait for better value in the housing market. Just what is wrong with that ? They make a judgement call and it might work, or it might not. But they accept the risk. How is it different to taking out a position on a financial derivative for example ?

I agree. I'm interested in posts about the economy but posts about house prices less so. The economy is at a greater crossroads than it has been for all of my working life and its worth talking about and understanding.

I don't think splitting the two subjects would work though sadly. I think you'd just get one board with people hanging out talking about HPC, with another on the economy filled with precious metal rampers.

More likely that they've finally realised that this 50% / 70% crash is never going to happen, and instead we're facing into house price stagnation and rising rents for the next few years.

Glad that more and more bears are finally starting to see sense, and that the lunatic fringe and STR'ers are now clearly quarantined on the HPC forums. Long may they be happy together

You don't even know who those people are. You haven't got a clue. Whereas Mr Broderick is a forum legend, you are just a wiggling prawn on a sashimi platter of propaganda.

All the posters I cited had opposing views, there was argument, there was debate, people disagreed, but there was some point to it all.

Even Graham is losing heart here, and he once was so plucky.

Seems to be a common theme, the Bulls appear to have largely agreed that theres not going to be any rises in the market as well.

Stagnation is a boring middle ground that is being claimed a victory by both sides. The fact that not much is going on is probably a key reason why people stop posting, another month with a small up or small down movement doesnt really lead to much real debate.

There has never really been a point to any of it rugged, the people may have changed over the years, but the arguments haven't changed one bit.

I was banned from the forum not too long back, couldn't see it for a few days.

However, on being able to see it again, I honestly thought "what is the point, any posts are simply drowned out by the same person with 10 or however many usernames". Therefore, don't really bother posting anymore.
  • No wonder Mr Broderick self destructed by posting a penis. No wonder CarolT hasn't been seen for years. Chucky, where has he gone? Gone that's where, because they all got sick of going on a forum that had been taken over by a bunch of unts.

I think you'll find chucky is floating around in one form or another.
