Well when its done it can take a maximum of 12-18 months to fully settle.
I am not having any negative thoughts about it - it will go well & I wont need a revision!!

I've had one. My nose was making me miserable and pretty much ruined my teenage years, it bordered on disfiguring to be honest and my GP said I could have had it on the NHS but I didn't want to wait years.
I found it a breeze, maybe because I wanted it so badly, very little pain and an easy recovery period, its quite fun walking round with two black eyes!
What I would suggest:- Talk to a few surgeons so you can compare
- Make sure you find out how many rhinoplasties they do a year, it should be in the hundreds
- Make sure they are registered with one of the professional bodies, it was BAAPS and BAPRA when I had mine but I think BAAPS changed its name for obvious reasons.
- Insist on seeing before and after pictures of previous patients
- Go with somebody who is realistic and conservative, you still want to look like you afterwards!
- Check what aftercare they offer, and if they charge extra if a second surgery is needed.
Don't listen to people who tell you you're vain, people don't understand how cruel the world can be to big nosed people, we're the butt of so many jokes, we're considered fundamentally unattractive and undesirable, children snigger, drunks are abusive, popular culture is derisive.
If you want this, best of luck to you, I've never regretted it for a second and its completely changed my whole life.0 -

Oh thank you so much for your response!!!
Been hoping for someone with experience that would come along & give me advice on this.
Yeah I know exacly what you mean - been slagged about my nose for as long as I can remember & even the other day my friends son who is 9 said to me you've got a wicked witches nose - cheers for that!!! Felt like crying! I know they dont realise how much it hurts but still!
I will let you know how my consultation goes - I am gonna book 3 consulatations cos I want to get my surgery in the Nuffield or at Ross Hall which are both fantastic hospitals.
I have a consulation with Transform on 29th Dec - I'll need to pay for the other ones so gonna save up for them but I dont wanna just choose without seeing what surgeon might be best for me you know!
Anyway thanks again

I fully respect your wish to have surgery, OP - but I would say that in all my life, I have never seen anyone whose natural nose could be regarded as 'needing' to be done on the grounds of appearance alone. Maybe they are all hiding indoors, but I am fairly sure that you are a perfectly normal part of the population. Who has just met the most vile children.
But good luck with saving for the procedure and I'd love to hear from you when it's done to let us know how much better you feel!I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Its really the individual surgeon that matters, not the 'brand'.0 -
friend had a rhinoplasty for medical reasons at 15. Her abusive husband then broke it 3 times in her marriage and is worse now than before the surgery!
another friend had a broken nose reset and lost his sense of smell.
make sure you fully understand the risks.0 -

Ah thanks for the info - I have an appt with Transform on 29th - a girl I know got her boobs done in there & said the whole staff where fantastic in dealing with her.
I have an eye on a surgeon who operates for transform & another 2 who operate out of the Nuffield - I am not going to make a decision until I have met all 3 & I know for sure who will be the best for me.

No offense but I would expect it to look worse now if she's had her nose broken 3 times!
I totally understand the risks - I am 28 and have wanted this done since I was in my early teens so its not a decision I have just jumped into.
I have read about all the risks but this is something I will also bring up with my surgeon.

Well had my first consulatation today with Transform & it went really well - I have been given the name of the 2 surgeons who operate for them so I will do my own additional research then book a consulation with a surgeon.
Gonna book consulations with the Nuffield in March when I get my bonus!
