I'm up and ready early (for me at least) as it's a hospital day for me. I shall be having a bone strenthening IV line in which takes only half an hour to run through but the nurse can never get the canula in and Iusually end up cross or upset. I have to drink plenty of liquid before hand and try to keep my wrist warm to make the vein earier to find so I'm taking it easy and guzzling water. I was debating taking a friend along for a natter while I'm having it done but not really in the mood so I'll take my Kindle instead.
I'm going to pop into Morrisons on the way home from hospital as they have a great big World Foods aisle there and I really need some uncooked popadums. Otherwise it will mean a trip to Derby to the big Indian supermarket, which is fab and cheap but I always end up spending a fortune as they have such a big range that you can't get anywhere else. Then I'm off to Boots to hopefully get the Soap and Glory set - I save my points all year for something nice at Christmas and through points boosts etc I got £60 worth this year. I got the No7 box last week as it's full of things I use and this one will go under the tree as a nice gift as I expect MrS won't have got me as many gifts as I have him and will probably feel a bit bad. Well, that's my excuse.
Breakfast today was fruit and yoghurt as the fruit basket was heaving and the yoghurts were a day or two over their UB dates. That's my five a day done already as I had an orange, a grapefruit, a pomegranite, a kiwi, and apple and some juice. It's surprising how difficult it can be to eat five a day even as a veggie / fish person.
Lunch will be bread and cheese if I have a walk to the bakers (or shake a tail feather and get the BM on) and dinner tonight will be something curried but not sure what until I have a look through the HFW Veg book for inspiration.
Hopefully I'll manage to get a bit of baking done this afternoon as we have nothing yummy in at all. I was hoping to bake on Saturday but we ate the eggs as poached eggs on toast and we didn't go collecting the eggs until late on yesterday when I couldn't be bothered with being in the kitchen.
Back to working tomorrow which I don't really want to do but needs must and it's only for three days. Is it bad to want a countdown calendar to R day (retirement?)
Apologies if there are extra speling mistakes today, I put false nails on last night as my real ones are particuarly prone to breaking at the moment and look awful, and I'm unused to typing with talons
Hugs to all that need or want them.
warm up your arm before with hot water bottle or something and she should find it easily xxx:A :j0 -
Evening all,
found out this afternoon I didn't get the job. Only found out cos I rang them again:mad: I'm not mad I didn't get it, they must pick who they think is best but I am really cross they didn't have the decency to ring and let me know. I just think it's really rude, and I told them so in no uncertain terms, so feeling a bit flat now:(
DH is stuck on a big job and doesn't sound like a happy bunny so it should be fun chez Julie tonight, not:cool:

Hi everyone. Have spent today messing around. Planned to do all sorts of things but the Rev was home all day and I just can't seem to get on when I don't have the house to myself.
We did some essential boring shopping this a.m. and on the way home we passed our lovely chippie. Sigh.... I'd better be honest, we didn't pass it, we wheeled into it, rushed home and had egg and chips for lunch. I'd forgotten how yummy that was.:o
It took ages to unpack the shopping. I looked with some horror at the 4 kilos of brussels, 3 enormous bags of parsnips, huge bag of carrots and half a sack of potatoes that are waiting to be prepped for Christmas day. That plus the 8 dozen mince pies to be made should keep me out of mischief for the rest of the week.:eek::eek:
FB: so glad to hear about the house, what a relief. Sort of sorry you won't be needing my tent and sleeping bag!
Beth: glad to hear from you again. Enjoy your Christmas, whatever it is it's being dealt with and has been caught early.
Julie: Aw. Bad luck. At the risk of sounding like Pollyanna, there's probably something better waiting for you. As Gran used to say, "What's for you won't pass you".
Keep warm everyone.

Julie - sorry about the job - bit of good manners wouldn't have gone amiss!
Beth - (((hugs))) all the best for your op in January - hope you manage to have a good Christmas without worrying too much! x x x
JG - good luck with your labour! x x x
(((hugs))) to Jackie, Dazi, LW, NPM, and all in need xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Julie - sorry to hear about the job. Something better will be just around the corner!
Monnagran - That is ALOT of veg. I don't envy anyone who has to prepare that amount!
Tappers - my raynaulds has been much worse in my hands this year than ever before. My toes are doing surprisingly well though, they are usually numb nearly all day long in winter.
My lip is swelling even more?! It had gone down this morning but is now getting worse again!! So frustrating! Had a relaxing bath with some of my lush products and am surfing the net while OH watches some boring program.
Couldnt eat much stew. Bread is the winner at the moment as i can eat such tiny bits of it.Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

:xmassign: and evening all
Huge hugs to all who need them at the moment :grouphug:
I am trying to do as many old style things for Christmas as we can - making gifts rather than buying them, making food and treats from scratch etc. I made the first batch of hm ice cream today ready for Sunday - the trouble is it is so yummy I keep wanted to have a quick taste and I'm wondering if it is going to last until then! Hm things definitely seem to taste miles better than shop bought, it makes me wonder why I didn't do this beforeJust have mince pies to make - does anyone know how long they last? I have always bought them before

Oopps just posted this on yesterdays by mistake so moving to here...
Hi All,
Just stumbled across this link, seems like a nice idea to have a thread a day. My only problem is (and forgive me I'm new to this and a bit lost) I can't seem to figure out where the "Old Style Forum" comes up on the main forum page so have a feeling I'll never find it again.
Anyway a bit about me, live in France with BF (moved in June), been together three years on NYE, determined to get rid of our debts this year (just over 10k) and have been working on it for the last few days trying to figure out where to save. Have also decided to quit smoking and do the sealed pot challenge to make some extra cash so I've been making up my pots.
BF works away in the UK a lot and is away at the moment so nows my organised time he's not back til after christmas and I am determined to try and make homemade Hummus for when he comes back - can't seem to find it in any of the shops here.
Anyway hopefully someone can give me some advice re finding tomorrows post and I'll write again then.

Welcome Kitty...you will enjoy it here.
Happy birthday to JackieO's DD.
Beth...good to see you back...you have obviously been busy in the interim, positive vibes for op in January.
Damp here to-day, but not as cold, we are apparently safe from a white Christmas so no bother with the travelling on Friday. Did 2 washes and they are now draped around the house, but will dry eventually.
Had a lovely brooch as present from DD3 in Perth this morning....didn't expect her to be so organised, but very pleased she was! Will miss her greatly this Christmas, she usually has us all in fits of laughter with her antics.
JackieG....hugs
LW....hope that you are feeling better.
Flutterby...gather you got the house...congratulations.
Brain now in a fog, so will offer hugs to all in need or want, stay warm and safe.
