I'm sure none of them are stupid enough to be thinking he'd have told anyone if house prices actually had crashed after he bought.
Be interesting to see what the HPC crowd make of it.
:rotfl:
Would it be similar to the CC crowd, i.e. Lots of heartwarming congratulations by numerous posters who I guess reckoned you guys had earned a bit of a wind up.
In amongst the sour grapes, I detect a certain amount of acceptance as ot the the reality of my claims. Am I right?
That would be to your credit Heathcote.
A number of your compatriots seem to have adopted a position of strange hysterical denial, where the're only conclusion seems to be that I've genuinely gone back in time and planted numerous heavy handed hints as to my situation.
Its fascinating to see it unfold.
Anyway, do you now accept the situation?0 -

Geneer. I should not have to do your thinking for you but if you really were going to do such a wacky prank as buy in Dec 2009 but not tell anyone till 2011, the day you bought you should have posted something clever and subtle like this.
Geneer posted December 2009:
"I think there will be a massive crash. Bought on by a rise in interest rates. A recession will also happen. House price crash is going to continue for the next 5 years. In particular BTL LL will suffer. Edinburgh will also be hard hit. Today it is clear only a muppet would buy a house before the HPC happens".
Now why did you not write a cleverly coded post like that in December 2009? Then instead of people saying you are Pinnochio today you would be being applauded for your tactical genius:)
Kind Regards
Benjamin
:rotfl:Seriously? You're just making quotes up now.

Geneer, people are congratulating you on buying a house, not on spending 2 years and 7500 posts on a wind-up mission.0

Oh rilly...A year and a half ago - that is excellent.
You have sky-rocketed in my estimation of
you, not least for having the self-restraint
not to say in your machinations with Columbo
and pimpernel.
Well done.
You appear to have gone through denial and anger rob.
Can you confirm that you too, like heathcote, are now in the acceptance phase?0 -
I'm loving watching geneer frantically run around to try and somehow save face for his massive fail. Even brining in quotes from some obscure website that only one or two on here frequent.
It's delicious fun.
This is a cartoon where geneer plays Homer Simpson (while sat on a motorcycle for some reason) and tells bart he bought a house in 2009 and kept it secret for two years:

I haven't added subtitles, but perhaps one of the creative CC boys could do the honours?0 -
Oh rilly...
That's one of them. What about the rest? You appear to have gone through denial and anger rob.
Can you confirm that you too, like heathcote, are now in the acceptance phase?
Seriously, man, get a grip. I've not even been on here in the last week, so why fantasise these reactions on my behalf?
For what it's worth, I have no problems accepting that what you say is true and that you bought 2 years ago. In fact, it nicely explains the lack of substance to many of the arguments that you have proposed.
I do find the amount of time and emotional commitment that you seem to have put into this 'joke' of yours to be somewhat bizarre and pathetic, to be honest.0 -
The delicious irony that Geneer seems to be oblivious to is that if he purchased a house in December 2009, he played his part in preventing a correction developing into a HPC.
The uber bears always seem to tell every one for years don't buy there will be a massive HPC then they always seem to go and buy on the sly e.g Geneer, Merryn, Realist Bear, Jonathan Davis etc.
They say one thing and do another and totally undermine the HPC movement which they profess to lead and believe in.
Kind Regards

Oh rilly...
Erm, thats one person, and lets face it, he'd applaud you if you threw excrement at him while screaching like a monkey.
There seems to be a polite acceptance, with no-one quite wanting to point out the mealy mouthed deception - and it's quite obvious why.
What did your HPC chums make of it?0 -
What an entertaining read0

Well I've been called out - I genuinely thought you'd been back in time and bought a house - feel a bit daft now.
From what I see this is what you are saying really happened. You've spent years waiting for a crash which in your VI area didn't happen. Eventually, after realising the crash wasn't going to happen you bought a house. You then kept quiet about it to make sure that prices didn't crash and make you look an even bigger fool.
If prices had fallen through the floor in 2010 & 2011 you would have declared victory over your internet enemies and kept quiet about the purchase that's for sure.
I think being thought of as a time travelling house buyer is less tragic than the reality of your situation.
Well I for one would like to thank you. This episode has provided a welcome diversion form the daily doom and gloom and cheered me up no end. Seriously though; it's a stark reminder of the dangers of the internet.
What are you having for your lunch yesterday? I hope it's better than what you had tomorrow.0
