How would you know if you have won a competition on Twitter or Facebook - do they send you a message or an email or do you have to keep checking their Twitter/Facebook page? I am very new to Twitter and do not really understand it. Many thanks.

I use the thanks button too. If I enter, I click "thanks" and "enter", if I decide it's not for me I just "thank". That way if I go back to it it's nice and obvious... and of course the poster gets recognition for their effort!

The only time it gets slightly confusing is when there is one I have to save to come back later (eg. if the site is down - I thank those too, but either subscribe to the the thread in the hope somebody will bump it if I forget, or make a note / bookmark it for later).
