They changed the terms and conditions today to include the line ' If we think you have entered fake reviews in order to earn free wine, we will close your account so play nice'. If you know how you can check on the cached google page that shows the original terms and conditions and this line was not included.
Here is there statement from earlier -

Party poopers…
Dear Demons,
Earlier today we had to take the WineDemon website down and temporarliy remove the earning and redeeming of points. This was due to some rather unwanted visitors gaming the system just to get free wine.
These users were easily identified and their bogus reviews were removed.
The points system was designed to reward early adopters who would fill WineDemon with genuine reviews so it became more useful. We always said that if it got abused we would pull it.
We actually have enough reviews on the website (over 30,000) to offer meaningful recommendations in all the big supermarkets, most of the online retailers and a lot of restaurants too.
The good news is that we’ve worked up a fix so that if you joined prior to Sunday morning, everything should now be back to normal. You will be able to earn your points and redeem any you already have to spend at Naked Wines.
If you joined after Sunday morning you won’t be able to earn any more points. This may change in the future if we can think of a fair way to reward users for honest reviews.
WineDemon set out to help normal people drink better wines. To those of you who have supported us with reviews, thank you. Please don’t let a handful of party poopers spoil this project.
Keep submitting your ratings and we’ll continue to drinking better wines!
Any questions email me direct: greg@winedemon.com.
Cheers,

There was a post on this thread earlier today from Wine Demon saying the offer has been pulled and they were busy cancelling the orders they believed were non-genuine.
I guess the post was deleted as it breached the forum's company representative rules.
The "order" is with Naked Wine.. so cancelling a WineDemon "account" should make no difference to orders already placed.
If I was in their shoes now I'd be feeling pretty foolish for not thinking this offer through. Backtracking and failing to honour the orders would surely be a pretty embarrassing route for them to take.0 -
The bloke from WineDemon actually stated "We've now turned the points functionality off, and will be closing the accounts of those people we think gamed the system."

Both companies are owned by the same person though, so the chances are the orders will be cancelled.0 -
I wouldnt bank on getting orders as it seems Traceymae is correct. Nakedwines on facebook have mentioned about the points system being cancelled so I doubt we will get anything0

Possibly. It's a no win situation for them really. Either they bite the bullet and honour the promotion and cover the cost of this marketing blunder...or face the humiliation of sending out sheepish emails cancelling all orders made within the the last 48hrs.
Time will tell!0 -
I just hope they dont do something like charging the full cost of the wines to the card  although I dont know if they could legally do that ??0
-
Well I've just checked the Nakedwine website and my order and account are still there - so no idea what they are doing and will just have to see if it turns up tomorrow.
Nothing gone from my credit card but probably that is done on the day of delivery??
Mrskirk - I wouldn't think they could charge the full amount if we have a confirmation email of the price.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -
I don't think they will cancel the orders as it would be a huge damage to their reputation, but they will definitely learn from their mistakes.0
