My hubby's a milkman so I'd have to say tip them please:D He works hard - gets up at 2am in all weathers and does a good job so why not! Plus he takes special care of the tippers;)
Thanks Taplady, you have convinced me! Mine comes rain or shine at 5am twice a week, and takes special care not to slam the gate. I never see him, but no reason to not appreciate what he does. I shall leave it in a card on the door step Friday for his last pre-Christmas delivery.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
My Grandma always tips her milkman, postman and bin men, she leaves them all a card with a fiver in it.
My Mum has never tipped any of them as she sees it as a service we have already paid for.
When I move into a new house I intend to tip them, I'm in an apartment building right now, so have never spoken to the postman or binman. All post goes to a communal area and all waste goes down the shoot into the same bin, so I wouldn't even have a clue where to leave any cards!
I remember being very pleased as a 13 year old papergirl when people tipped me or gave me a bar of chocolate. It was usually old ladies.Debt at 1/5/09 £21,996 _pale_

I happened to be at home yesterday morning and heard the bins being collected so I popped out and gave the guys a tenner. It put a smile on their faces and mine, I just wanted to show my appreciation for the job they do which must be pretty horrible on a cold wet day, whatever they're paid. I've rarely had a problem with the bin collections so am happy with the service they provide. I imagine they must pool the tips and divide it amongst the team.
I'm occasionally tipped in my line of work and it always goes down well!0
