I have been using Sainsbury's non bio powder for a little while but I recently bought Persil non bio on offer and I compared a white wash done with Persil powder to one done with Sainsbury's powder and there was really no difference.
I'll be sticking to Sainsbury's or Tesco own ones. I don't see the point of spending more just for a name.0 -
I use tesco value powder (the one in a bag), generally get 20-30 washes out of a bag. It cleans well and doesn't have any particular smell to it which is a bonus.0

Just an update, i have been using the Aldi Almat now in Liquid form and I can honestly say I see no difference in my washing from branded and I even prefer the smell as its not overpowering just fresh.
I am happy with it and will continue to use it as its cheap and effective. Thanks for all the information though.0 -
I've just started using the Formil Non-Bio concentrated liquid from Lidl (not the liquitabs, this one is in a container similar to Excel Gel). It's £2 for 20 washes at the moment and I swear a sheet came out of the wash and I forgot it had ever been that bright! Usually I'm pretty fickle with things like this and will just buy whatever's on offer but I think this one may be a keeper!Tesco CC [STRIKE]£201.17 [/STRIKE]/£189.36| HSBC CC [STRIKE]£1072.25[/STRIKE]/£1038.14 | Natwest OD [STRIKE]£1061.30[/STRIKE]/£1073.47Current monthly mortgage overpayment: £150pmGC: Jan £108.61/£2000

Hi - first post, long time lurker.
Washing detergent is one item that I have now found my ideal product and nothing else comes close.
However I have set barriers for the price I will pay.
IMO and according to Which magazine Ariel Excel is the best product. After trying numerous own brands and named rivals I wholeheartedly agree.
It is currently on offer for £4 for a 925ml bottle in Sainsburys. This is 25 washes so 16p a wash.
However I understand a wash to be a "full load". Very rarely do I actually use that on my machine, for one reason it takes 2.5 hours!!
I usually just do an "express" wash of 40 or 60 minutes so obviously you don't need as much.
The bottle takes up hardly any cupboard real estate - unlike powders and you don't waste any like the "tabs" if you are doing a smaller wash.
Thoroughly reccommended and I think I will buy a couple more bottles that will last me a year.
Asda are currently selling the Ariel Excel Bio 592ml for the same price of £3 as Sainsburys. However 925ml for £4 is a bargain.

Morrisons own brand liquid is half price at the moment £1.61 for 28 washes.0

I agree with lidl's formil, only used the white wash one, but they come out smelling lovely! Really cheap and lasts for ages!
Does anyone know if it would work ok to mix say half a branded and half a smartprice washing liquid together? Thus making the dearer stuff last longer?Wins 2016: Dogfest ticks, B&M dog Hamper, Dog food, Dog blanket, Hair product, meal for 2 and wine at pub, craft bundle, organic surge gift pack, £100 gullivers world voucher, stress out cd, £200 seascape vouchers, popcorn maker, mandarin body butter, Wishing for a holiday win!0 -
Tesco has persil non bio 50 wash on offer for £6 at the moment ...i know there are cheaper brands out there but daughters skin dictates we use this one.
Also all "flavours" of Lenor - 32 wash is £1.99 at Home Bargains. They were stocking the whole end aisle at my local last night I think this is usually about double this price. HTH0 -
