    £2000 on a sofa. Class.

Your backside must be precious as it seems your trying to save it on this subject by doing a quite common thing seen here on MSE.

That of blaming something or someone else when it is actually your own fault.

Maybe it became more unsteady as the unit got hot? Expanded wood or melting glue? I don't know but if it was my sofa, I'd consider it!

Given the bulbs are at the exact opposite side of the base.......do you think this is possible? Likely? Or just clutching at straws? :P

I'm still trying to figure out what type of window sill, vs what type of sofa vs what placement of the arch would lead to it landing on the sofa if it merely fell over instead of the cable being pulled or someone knocking it over with force.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
  • Ha sit got a warning on it, IE dont put near flammable stuff? If not I feel its trying your luck, the unstability I feel is the best attack.

    Hi,

Anyone advise me as to what my rights are and what steps to take?

    Thanks x

Sorry to hear about the accident. You might wish to discuss your problem with:Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06, It is the Trading Standards service.

I would look at the box of the lights what it says about "safety" before I do anything. I do not know how you check any faults in them. -

  • I would take it back to Tesco and try and claim for cost of repair and refund, stating product was faulty and this was cause of damage. No harm in trying, don't ask you don't get.
