Tesco candle lights burned my sofa!

Trouble is if its been lying on a sofa the bulbs would quite possibly have overheated due to the insulating effect of the sofa - the question (which it will be down to you to prove as the one making the claim) is whether the fault caused the problem, or more likely the fault occurred as a result of them falling over onto the sofa and overheating.
You are going to have a job pinning any of this on Tesco - unless the base is fundamentally unstable - i.e. it wobbles to the point of falling over when placed on level flat surface, they won't accept the blame for it falling over. Beyond that bulbs get hot, hot bulbs in contact with material will cause burns and holes, so it all comes down to why it fell over.Adventure before Dementia!0 -
I think I will just take them back to tesco for a refund of the lights and contact my insurer aboit accidental damage.0

If the arch was unstable in the first place, why did you not return it to Tesco straight away?
I have this picture of you carefully balancing the arch, gingerly stepping away with your hands held out to stop it falling, then shrugging your shoulders and walking out the front door ....A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove you don't need it.0 -
What was the arch stood on? Sorry if I've missed this.0
