  • you might get some luck from your house insurance, but if you honestly think that tesco are in anyway responsible your barking mad.

you have to accept that you made mistakes. and you are responsible.

    Hi,

Anyone advise me as to what my rights are and what steps to take?
So you went out and left a candle burning near a sofa, just what rights do you think you have or expect, think yourself lucky you didn't do more damage and burn the house down.
  • If your house had burnt down, your insurance wouldn't have covered it.

I wonder if the insurer will ask whether the house was occupied at the time of the incident...

If OP answers 'no', she might well find she's invalidated her claim. If she answers 'yes', she's committing insurance fraud.

As an aside, candles burning in unattended rooms are the biggest single cause of house fires these days. It could have been a lot worse :(

Erm, it wasnt an actual candle, it was a candle arch with light bulbs, maybe i should have made it clearer.

its lucky its not a flame candle, but still a bulb element gets hot, and you placed it in such a place it could fall and burn your sofa.

sorry buts its still a problem for your insurance. Tesco will not be responsible for where you put them.
  • I still wouldn't leave xmas lights on if I go out
