Maplin confusion

cannot imply a question, nor did you suggest. You made a statement, that's all.
i was not the only one to pick up your rant within post 1, and you simply waited too long for the price to drop further. So you lost out.
oh yeah silly me, complaining about a companies CS obviously falls under the catergory of techie stuffMansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
Firstly I should state that I've been a Maplin customer since the early 70's, when they had a picture of Concorde on their catalogue to celebrate the approval of the new airport at Maplin Sands (which of course never happened).
Their customer services are (in my experience) quite good, but in-store staff turnover seems high, so you can't expect much there.
I don't think the "old price" was an error, from what I can see.
However, they probably don't want to set a precedent that others will follow, given that you have made this issue rather public!0 -
Can't be bothered to re-read all thread but, doesn't neilwoods work for Maplins?Move along, nothing to see.0

Disturbing isn't it how much spare time an off duty Maplin employee has to rubbish anyone that posts something that makes Maplin look bad. Especially as Maplin's on duty customer services team could barely give me the time of day.
An embarrassment from start to finish for Maplin's.
I'm actually speechless its disgusting. :mad:May as well say i do work at Maplin and have sold a lot of CCTV system's. There are plenty of on-line site's which may offer better deals or prices. That's the reason i posted those links as i knew instantly about them.0 -

I work for Maplin so hopefully I can shed some light. That offer for the hard drive is unusual, we set up promotional prices as we did in October and then try not to change prices, the operator can check previous promotional prices and that us what they saw. Due to the Thailand floods the cost of many hard drives have more than doubled and so as we replenish stocks we have had to change prices in mid promotion. Because this is so unusual we have not provided the information on screen to the operator.
I am surprised to hear comments about the website crashing, even though it is very busy taking orders it should be capable of much heavier loads as we build I spare capacity. We have had some issues with our payment provider which could be the problem if it crashes during checkouts. Hopefully you can manage to get orders through and we will carry on working at it.0 -
I *think* he's been back and deleted this post.:cool:Move along, nothing to see.0 -

Oh dear, so calling it an 'error price' would not be the truth it was just a mid promotion change due to circumstances? At least you took the effort to sign up to the forums to set things straight, thankyou.I have looked into this for you and we do apologise for the item being advertised at £59.99.
We are aware of this and this was an error, the actual price is £69.99, unfortunately we cannot offer the item at the error price.I *think* he's been back and deleted this post.
Indeed whole posts have been deleted at some point, it would be another dim-witted attempt at subterfuge considering its probably the most quoted passage in the thread.

Now that information has mysteriously been editted from his own posts i'm quite disturbed by the constant frequency with which he recommends Maplin, albeit with subtlety alongside other products. But it seems your unlikely to find a thread where Maplin is not mentioned, and now with no way of knowing he works for them if you search his posts.0 -
Did I ever say anywhere within this thread that I speak for Maplin, No I didn't because I don't, my views are my mine and mine alone. This thread could have been called Amazon confusion, Argos confusion or Any company confusion, and my replies would be exactly the same. Has become quite common for people to place item's in the basket and to keep checking the price until it get's to a price they won't to pay for it, but not everyone complains when they miss out on it.
Yeah 1 whole post deleted, on the same day I may add. The constant recommends, really. The time I have mentioned Maplin probably equates to 2 or 3 % of all my posts, so bit of a major exaggeration on your part where you say "unlikely to find a thread where Maplin is not mentioned". As for deleting, i knew someone who had too much time on there hand's would trawl through thread to find something like and try to turn the tables.
Also like I said within that CCTV, i merely used that site for quick reference points, why spend 30 minutes looking for something when i know i can find it in a few minutes, hardly rocket science.
So I will so once again I DO NOT SPEAK FOR MAPLIN. Will limit the link's to Maplin as well, otherwise be accused of using subliminal messages next.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0
