  • Profiteering or not, drive prices have gone up recently.

I think you'll struggle to find a ITB drive for under £55.

Does sister really need that much memory?

    Most home users don't.

I've told her as much she said she wants as much as possible as she has a lot to back up. Their are also about 4 pcs in the house. I will most likely buy her something else for now.

ok i figured you guys would want to hear the final word on this, think what you will but i would no sooner put myself in a position to deal with these people again as walk into a Basil Fawlty establishment.
    Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting Maplin Electronics.

I have looked into this for you and we do apologise for the item being advertised at £59.99.

We are aware of this and this was an error, the actual price is £69.99, unfortunately we cannot offer the item at the error price.

If there is anything else we can help you with, please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Kind regards

I'm sorry i was under the impression this was a consumer website, no?

I thought as a courtesy to people that contributed i would post the final outcome. Then again some people on here never were interested in the customer service side of things, its a mysterious to me why they bother posting on a consumer website of all places.

Being anti-social on a forum is pretty pathetic I can only imagine the level of social ability is in real life. :(

As i said i was finishing the thread for the sake of the community, i thought that was the whole point of this place.

Thread was pretty much finished after post 1, everyone already knew what the outcome would be except yourself.

Next time don't wait so long to grab a bargain.

Yes this a consumer website, the Techie section. Yet no technical question asked.

He asked a valid question about a £10 difference in pricing, if it was over after post1 why bother coming back here & posting anything?

This was really for the section about missing a bargain not techie. He even stated in post #3, he was stalking this item for weeks, more than likely in the hope it would go down further down in price, but instead it went up, so he posted a rant about it. Hardly my fault if my replies are not like most pampering to him because he missed out.

Lesson here is, don't wait too long to grab a bargain, price will either change or go out of stock

Its about customer services which you still seem to be unable to comprehend. The questions were implied but obviously to subtle for you despite being picked up by everyone else.

What do people think about the situation?
Can anyone confirm what they are denying?
Is their a comparable hard drive available? (wow a tech question )
Has anybody had problems with their website?
Is this on par with your experience of Maplin customer services?
Are they lying or genuinely making a mistake?

Also the thread evolved, for example I indicated i was interested in a comparable hard drive when it was brought up and that was discussed repeatedly almost to the end. How in that case you can say thread was finished after the 1st post is a mystery.

Don't really understand the vitriol, very strange to go to all that effort.
