How many times do you chase your solicitor?

I have grown to hate the phrase.. 'its nearly there now'! as this started 5 weeks ago!0

I know!
I dont even know what i have done! Our daily convos go like this:
Me: Hi **** its *** calling about ***** any news?
Solicitor: no nothing as of yet, ill re chase for you and call you back
Of course there is no call back!
Ha ha thats exactly what my routine was! my bf eventually had enough and called them demanding to know what we were waiting on etc and the solicitor hung up! when i tried to call them back she wouldnt talk to me -making the receptionist person say that she would call me when there was news.
we did complete on time but i think if i didnt ring them most days i'd still be waiting!0 -

Well my own solicitor rarely speaks to me...I get emailed (reply from email I have sent obviously!)....no news yet
The common phrase from buyers solicitor, who tells my EA, who tells me is "we are extremely close to wrapping this up now". This being said for 4-5 weeks now.
So how close is extremely close? Clearly not close enough!
He has said for weeks "as soon as their mortgage offer hits the mat we will be exchanging that same week"
we threaten to pull out if no news....offer (coincidentily) arrives next day....that was 2 weeks ago tomorrow.
On Friday....their solicitor sent to mine, and on to me a list of 16, yes 16 Questions/queries to be answered.
Could these not have been done in the 6 weeks of absolutley no movement whatsoever, no lets wait until we are ready to exchange!!
Glad we are not on our own with solicitors!!0 -

Yours sounds as useless as mine! I felt like i was the only one! lol!
Glad to get some frustration out! But how can they get away with fobbing you off everytime!
I understand that if there is no new- theres no news... but saying we are waiting for one thing when it turns out to be 5-6 is lying!
grrr! hate them some times!0 -
When dealing with my purchase, I would usually call twice a week, just for updates. They were very good though.0

I'm so glad this thread is here. I hate ringing my solicitor, she sounds a bit dappy and doesnt even stop typing when I'm on the phone to her (all I can hear is tap tap tap tap), which I think is a bit rude really! I had to ASK her to send the contract to me to sign, she claimed she thought she'd already sent it..
She's been telling me we're waiting for our buyer's mortgage offer to be sent though for 2 weeks now, and my EA told me today that its here, so there is no reason we can't exchange this week is there?! I'll be ringing her in the morning (cos, its 3pm and she's done for the day:p) and telling her to pull her finger out. I want to be in my house in the new year!0 -
So ive just called them, and he confirmed we have everything we have been chasing.. but now they need consent from the sellers bank and the receivers! one thing after another!0

Maybe they are just as frustrated and annoyed about it as you are!RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
I think they are.. and i completely understand.. but the one thing that annoys me is that they tell the estate agents one thing and then tell us another, when we question them about this, it turns out its true... why not tell us about this in the 1st place?..!0

....my solicitor actually called me this afternoon- that is a rare thing indeed!! still aiming to exchang this side of xmas 8 working days and counting, we need to sign or will lose our rental house (2nd house we would have lost) then complete mid jan. Which means we will have to sign for rental on exchange (they won't hold it any more) and move all over xmas period with 2 toddlers!!
Fun. but as long as we can exchange I don't care anymore...so drained by it all! Good luck Jalapee0
