One day I might be more organised...........

dannahaz wrote:160 THOUSAND turkeys. My god, how can you have 160,000 turkeys on one farm. And 3000 in one shed. I knew how awful turkey conditions could be (we refuse to eat the bird because of it), but that number is just mind blowing. Evemn bringing it down to, say, 3000 turkeys in one shed is inconceivable. I mean, we're talking about TURKEYS. Not sparrows.

Well I'll carry on eating turkey and chicken thanks all the same
I'll take the risk with the freerange poultry from round here (our butcher uses local suppliers). Frankly if anything is likely to kill me it'll probably not be bird flu

I also buy (all meat) from my butcher, and he only buys free range, so I am not worried.

I dont eat any processed meat whatsoever ( unless youj could chorizo
) and would never buy an sort of burgers, drummers etc. Wrong in every sense. I do buy a fair amount of turkey though, I wonder whether BM has the monopoly on supermarket turkey, even the "free range"?
Will bne looking out for the yellow stickers.
I was wondering about bird flu, I thought the whole issue had collapsed, alas no.
I can see the cost of all meat & fish rising if it becomes more widespread? Shortages etc? Could the price of eggs go up as well
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Spare a thought for the poor vets who worked through the night killing all the turkeys.0
