Wedding Ceremony Music

We decided we would each pick two songs for the wedding. I get to pick leaving the ceremony together and first dance, OH is picking what I walk down the aisle to and signing the register.
So far I have quite a long list of ideas for both but I would love our first dance to be Avenged Sevenfold "warmness on the soul" and whilst the OH likes that choice (as it kinda sums us and our relationship up) but he thinks some of the guests won't. I tried the whole it's our day and we should pick something that means something to US but he's still not convinced.
To leave to I am leaning towards something like Queen "crazy little thing called love" or I quite like Newton Faulkners version of "it must be love".
The OH is thinking Take That "Greatest Day" or Keith Urban "memories of us" but he changes his mind more than I do.
I find this part quite hard as we don't have a song that is "our song" plus it's 18 months away so we'll no doubt change our minds several times before then.
Is one song for signing the register enough or should we be picking a couple?0 -
It's not allowed anywhere - a civil service is completely non-religious, so no religious mentions allowed in songs or readings.
What?! I have Angels by Robbie Williams as a song for while the guests arrive. I don't consider it a religious song at all. I thought they meant religious stuff like hymns and songs about god.
 They better not reject it.0 -

Just got a reply from them:Robbie Williams – Angels is fine it is not a religious song so can be used during a civil ceremony.
Phew, panic over.0 -

I think you've hit lucky, on this forum they are asking about Angels too and someone had it knocked back.
It does seem strange that one person would allow it and another not.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
I think some of the officiants (Or whatever they are called!) take their jobs more seriously than others...

We mithered over this for hours as our music collection is massive, but we were determined to have what we wanted as it was our day and music is a big part of us meeting and being together. In the end we had a random selection of Super Furry Animals, I Am Kloot and The Beatles for our ceremony and we had a few comments that it was nice we picked something different and very us. So, pick what you want and what is special for you!0

Hey ladies!
Bumping this thread up as really need your help!!
We're having a civil ceremony on 6th April and my OH's close friend has offered to play piano for us before and during the ceremony. He's going to play piano versions of well known songs we've picked whilst guests are waiting and "our song" on piano as I walk down the aisle. Picked a couple of songs for signing register to but am REALLY struggling about what to have walking back down the aisle!! Help?!
He could play a piano version of something but not sure what! Or could play Greatest Day by Take That which would be really appropriate BUT would it seem odd having all the music played on piano then that one on CD?????0 -
Do you not have songs that remind you of certain times? You could use them? My OH has picked several clubbing songs that remind him of being at uni and I've picked my favorite songs, and wev thrown in some funny ones.
I think if Take That means something to you then its not odd at all. Remember its your day, if you're happy with it and don't think its odd that's all that matters. If its not really a song you both relate to then maybe think of something else?
What about a bottle of wine, a takeaway and a night of googling songs from years you've been together?
Our songs are quite unusual, but we both know why we picked them and its our day.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0
