Welcome to the £2 Savers Club ready for the start of a brand new year.

I did hear back from Purplemumof2 (who ran the 2011 thread) and she is happy for a new thread to be started in her absence. She does hope to be able to contribute to it at some time in the year.

    Soooo…..

The aim is to collect every £2 coin you can lay your hands on! It is entirely up to you whether you want to:
    A) Save for a particular length of time e.g. monthly or till December 2012,
B)Save for a particular reason e.g. to pay the car insurance, to pay for a family holiday or to buy birthday presents throughout the year,
    C) Save until you have a specific amount e.g. £20 or £100 or a pot full!
    D) Save for any other reason you can think of...
You are also welcome to do what you wish with the money. Either bank it as you please or at the end of the year or spend it as required.

Above all else remember this is a fun thread, but the aim of this website is to SAVE, so any encouragement, comments or help you can give to others are always very welcome.

I have compiled a NEW ‘members’ list from everyone who has posted since September 2011 (in no particular order) so please look as you will have a different number to last year! Anyone who wishes to join (or be removed though I hope that isn’t the case!) is always very welcome, please just ask and I will add you as soon as I can. Also if anyone wants to add anything to the list such as a target or a date to aim for etc. then let me know and I will add it. However there is no pressure to do this as many people just wish to be able to save as and when they can.

So that’s it. Start saving, comment regularly and hunt for those £2s. Any questions or comments please ask. This is the first thread I have started so all assistance is welcome. :D

    2012 target =:

    £3000 in £2 coins
    £3000 in £1 coins
    £2000 in 50p coins
    £1500 in 20p coins
    £1000 in 10p coins
    £1000 in 5p coins

Got 8 marked up and sealed pots ready, however coincidently this is my £12k in 2012 challenge to fill ISA's at the same time!

    Evening everyone.

Nice new number I see sitting there in your signature wannabee_in_credit ;) It is entirely up to you if you count your pot as you add to it. Personally I do for this thread, but I don't on the SPC thread, so please do as you wish :D

Hi Frogletina. I have updated your number with your target.

Igamogam - yours too. Err..so what is the PAD thread? I probably should know but if you direct me I will happily go and have a look see what they do! EDIT: Found the thread and been having a look - lets see what the concensus of opinion is :)

A big welcome to ninnoodle, Clipperty, Doodlebug_, 3431Anna and Jamtra! Hope you enjoy the thread. Please post as and when you can as we all like to be kept upto date with happening of the £2s :D

Ninnoodle well done with the total last year - and you weren't even with the challenge then, so just think what you might achieve in 2012!!

Clair2305 would you like adding to the list? I would just like to reitterate that there is absolutely no pressure to collect a certain amount of coins or to not spend any of them ever, but the idea is to save a bit when you CAN afford it, so you have a back up plan for when you CAN'T. If a shop assistant gives you a few £2s, why not save one of them and spend the rest? That should still give you a sense that you are able to save, and honestly it does add up, especially if you have no expectations.

Hi Toriaterrier - glad I had a good premonition with the number! (It wasn't just random, honest ;)) I too have added your target and completely understand that sometimes it is necessary to need to spend the pot and noone knows what will happen in the nest few months. So here is to good saving now, so you do have it there if needed :)

Gonnabedebtfree all I can say to you is YIPPEE :rotfl:and hello popsicat :j

CKhalvashi would you like adding to the challenge list?

Everyone, Re Igamogams comment about posting totals, does anyone else have opinions either way, or as to the frequency etc? Each and everyone of you is a member of this thread now and all opinions matter so if anyone has a strong view about posting totals (or any other suggestions for that matter) please feel free to discuss!!

    Bye for now x

  • hello!!!!

Am new to all this money saving thing, so am going to start here as this seems a realistic challenge!!! before i decide to fully contribute in the new year(by starting a diary and sorting finances - will need to wait for kiddies to return to school to have the time to figure it all out!!!)

So i raided my purse (although it is rare for it to have anything in it these days!) and found a £2 coin, so i have my first coin!!!

As for a target i will say £100 - this will be a massive help, although i have finished for christmas(first one not on credit!!!), my childrens b'days are the 5th and 6th of august, so along with the summer hols it is an expensive times, plus we are tryig to conceive, so hope to have another bundle of joy at some point!!!

So lots of good luck wishes to all!!!

I am glad to see that you think the challenge is achievable and realistic; good luck with starting the saving with us. You seem to have started trying to sort things out already - a no credit christmas has to be a good achievement for anyone with the state of the world at the moment ;). Hope to see you active on the thread often

My best buy, a supermartket (begining with s) had a half price toy sale!!!! saved so much money!!!!:j

Look forward to keeping updated on everyones progress!!!!
