Weller what an awful day you've had not surprised you need to rant. Sounds positive that the md has called his bluff, fingers crossed for you that the supervisor now backs down.

I agree with Chevalier. I'm sure he can't just sack Andy like that. Surely it would be unfair dismissal? Understand why the MD has told the supervisor he can't replace him though - he's trying to cover his back so that if the sacking's ever questioned, he can say that they didn't need him anymore and made him redundant, which, obviously they wouldn't be able to say if they'd replaced him......

    Thinking of you.

He's not at work sadly - he went in at 7 this morning, the charge hand said he was still sacked and wouldn't listen to him, Andy was following him around the factory trying to reason with him and he just ignored him... Andy spoke to some of the other guys and they can't believe what this charge hand has done - and apparently he just took off to PCWorld yesterday without clocking out  . So, anyway, Andy was advised by his work mates to see the manager above this charge hand so hes phoned him up, explained whats happened and that he wants his job back. This man is going to get the charge hand and the MD together and try and sort it out, he's going to call Andy when hes done this but no promises.

On the plus side, Andy has a job he can start on Saturday but its cash in hand but apprently they have loads of work but we will know more if he starts tomorrow even though he would like a permanent job and have that security, he has to take whats available.

And hes got an interview at 11.30 for another job and has to do a welding test (which he'll pass no problems cos hes bl00dy good my hubby ;) )- this is permanent but he would still like his old job back because its great money though I feel like taking a sledgehammer to the charge hand and doing some serious damage

I've shed a few tears etc but am determined not to let that b*stard beat us. I'm trying to stay positive (hard but I'm manageing) but Sam is very upset cos he thinks its his fault for phoneing Daddy though we are doing our best to assure him its not his fault, little love.

And Sam is going to sleep at his friends house tonight - the first time hes slept at anybodys but my parents and I'm dreading it  . i know he'll have a fantastic time and it will do him good and they are only around the corner but still feel a bit sad, is this the start of things to come?? :rotfl:

anyway, thanks for all your good wishes - we'll be fine and I will stay strong xx

Weller, well done for gritting your teeth (albeit round a sausage butty :D) and not letting this bring you down. Sam is just adorable - keep reassuring him it wasn't his fault and he did the right thing, he'll be fine, I'm sure.

I hope he has a good time at his friend's house and comes back with lots of tales to tell and cuddles to give you.

Hi Weller, Hope you get some good news about Andy's job soon, it's good he has options. I just wanted to tell you a little trick of mine, when I'm feeling self conscious and don't want people looking at bad parts of me (spots etc in my case) I wear something bright and funny. In windy weather I often wear my bright stripy ear muffs. Then when I see people looking at me I just think they are looking at my ear muffs and not me and as I know they look funny it makes me laugh.

I was going to mention something similar actually - if I'm feelng really down and think people are looking at me, I wear sunglasses. For some reason it makes me feel a bit more 'hidden'. Little kids do this too - they hide their eyes and then think no-one can see them! It's quite comforting lol!
