Loophole to get a free credit rating discussion area

On the website section about getting credit rating advice ("Zopa Free Credit Score"), one of the paragraphs mentions registering with ZOPA to get a free rating.
All I can say is that this appears to be more much difficult than you might think.
The registration process takes you to an 'identification' subprocess that uses "eidverifier.net" and asks you a few questions about your mortgage and any loans.
You would be well advised to have an old Experian credit report in front of you when you try this - it asked about a 4-year-old 'interest free credit' deal with a sports shop, and I certainly wouldn't have been able to answer the questions without the report. Despite this, it /still/ didn't recognise me, possibly due to the mortgage term having changed from what we originally took out. Hence no 'free' credit rating.
All in all a bit of a washout.0 -
DONT DO IT!
It shows up on your credit file as an identity check AND a request for credit. Not worth it, get your credit file for £2, as you will anyhow if it comes back with a low score.0 -
Hi mwhit
I've moved your post here as it's a similar subject and you may find further advice within this thread.

I had mine ages ago, I think it was crap. Is there any way to get a new figure? I would have thought they would have a way to do this, especially as the "B" people might actually want to borrow some money when their rating goes up!I always tell the truth. Even when I lie.0

I think ZOPA have now closed the loophole!
I just visited their site in order to find out my credit score (I did so before, ages ago). The sign-up process leads you to a point where you apply for a loand, and have to say how much you want to borrow, before entering any personal information. Since I don't want a loan I am not prepared to apply for one, and I can't find a direct path to my credit score.

I have just had a score of 475 confirmed by Experian. However they are stating this score is very poor?0

Hi, sorry to be so thick but did you guys who got your score have to enter all your details as if you were going for a loan?
i'm very wary of putting my details into anything I dont know much about and stopped halfway through as it seemed to be like filling in a loan application.
I only want to check my score not actually get a loan.
Any help appreciated.
