Loophole to get a free credit rating discussion area

  • The higher the number the less risk you are. ie above 400 and you are in the top 50% above 470 and you are in the top 30%.
I just spent 15 mins filling in the forms and they would not tell me anything, I have no mortgage and no debt so they must have dropped me from their lists or have closed the loophole for free ratings. Now they have loads of personal info on me for free and I get nothing..... watch out it may be spyware in your face..

I have just got a free credit rating report from https://www.creditexpert.co.uk - this was a full report from Experian - you just have to remember to cancel your subscription before your free 30 days is up.

I didn't got a score of 911 and it did say my credit rating was good. You can also see all the searches etc on your report and a full list of all the accounts you've owe money on.
  • hello,
I have recently applied for a cahoot loan - and been declined.
I suspect that I do not have a very good credit rating as I got into a little trouble with a store card 20 Years ago!! and council tax problems 8 years ago (flatmate's fault). Since then I have had no problems - I had a loan from Nationwide (my bank) which was all paid as per terms 6 yrs ago. Have no mortgage or credit cards.
I had hoped that it had all gone away. I did enquire with nationwide about a loan but they said no as I am not a homeowner and self employed.
I would like to check with Equifax or Experian but would this register as a credit reference check? which I understand is a negative.
If the check comes back as not very good - is there anything I can do about it?
I really would like to take out a loan preferably without high interest but obviously am not going to apply to any more lenders until I sort the problem out.
Any ideas/tips gratefully received as I just don't know where to go from here.
    Thank you.

There are a number of reasons why this might have happened – our credit reference agency we use for this process, Equifax, might not have held enough information on you, or if you’ve changed address recently, the information might not be up to date, or you might simply have answered too many questions wrongly.

I applied for the zopa "free" credit check and got this same message:confused: , which worried me as i believed my credit rating should be good so i then tried creditexpert which gives the option of buying your credit scoring at the discounted price of £4.95 (usually £11.95)

I am now much happier :p:D:p

    Your National Credit Score**
Your score is: 999 on a scale of 0-1000
A higher score generally indicates that lenders will consider it less risky to lend money to you.
This score reflects the information held by Experian on the date shown here: 20/03/2005Your credit score category is:
Very poor Poor Fair Good Excellent
How you compare against the Nation:
In comparison, your National Credit Score is higher than that of 80% of UK consumers applying for credit

Interesting thread, if i apply for the 'free credit rating', and dont do well in it, or if they cannot give me a rating, due to circumstances, for some apparent reason... will this record stay on my credit file?

for example, if i want to apply for a credit card or loan, and i get the credit rating from zopa, and its not very good, will e.g.banks be able to see that a 'credit rating was done against' me on my credit file?

    would appreciate the feedback,

    has Zopa closed there loophole?.

i have been trying since saturday and all i got was a technical problem with there site now i tried to sign in again and i get this strange message which to me seems a !!!!!! way out.

We’re very sorry, but we are unable to complete your membership using our online process.
There are a number of reasons why this might have happened – our credit reference agency we use for this process, Equifax, might not have held enough information on you, or if you’ve changed address recently, the information might not be up to date, or you might simply have answered too many questions wrongly.
We know this sounds incredibly inflexible, but at this stage in Zopa's young life we have to be belt and braces with identification, money laundering and fraud.
We will take a careful look through all our incomplete membership applications each day to see if we can accept any using a manual process. If we are able to complete your application using this process we will get in contact. In the mean time we’ve suspended your account as a security precaution, which means you won’t be able to log on. If we are able to complete your membership we will of course un-suspend you.
Clearly this is a big turn off for you so please accept our apologies. We hope you understand we have to take these measures in order to make Zopa a safe and secure place for all our members.

As some other users have already suggested there are easier ways of obtaining a credit report.

creditexpert.co.uk doesn't give you a score but does give you a whole report on your credit file. If you sign up to creditexpert using greasypalm (see end of post) you get £2 cashback just for the trial. Direct Link:
    www.creditexpert.co.uk

Also checkmyfile.com offers a free report (including scoring) when you sign up to it's credit monitor trial. If you sign up to checkmyfile.com using greasypalm (see end of post) you get 10% cashback if you decide to continue after the free trial. Direct Link:

Can anyone find where you "unsubscribe" online with creditexpert ? As i would like to cancel now , before i forget and end up being charged £49.99 ( which would be very Un-moneysaving like )
    thanks
