To be honest, depending how practical the dress is, I love the idea of a bridal party walking through the streets of York. It would look almost magical.
Me too, I think that would be fantastic and very in keeping with the theme. You could have the pageboys ringing those bells on a stick things as you go and and bridesmaids scattering rosepetals (sorry am I getting carried away
)
Definitley worth thinking about depending on the route and time of year of course.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
We went to a wedding once where the bride only lived a few hundred metres from the church. Her parents put down a red carpet from the front door to the church door, and the bridal party walked along that, which was lovely. Don't know how feasible that would be for you - obviously not if you are walking through the centre of York, but maybe if we are talking outskirts?0

A few hundred metres of red carpet! How much would that cost?Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

Wow, the link is absolutely brilliant, price wise that is what she was thinking,
She wants her bridesmaids to be able to use it afterwards
She was thinking of having them in cream or gold
and the most amazing thin
Its a medieval theme to the wedding
I'll save this thread for her.

However, re horse and carriage, have you tried asking the men giving the tourist rides outside the minster? The carriages may not be as pretty as the ones costing £500+ but we once arranged transport this way. we went about a mile and, having booked in advance, it cost us about £60 for 4. I'm sure some ribbons could be thrown on, just an idea.
Ive seen processions like that through York and they give so much pleasure to the crowds, brilliant.
We dont live too far from York and have seen the carriages, I'll have a word next time we are there. Thank you.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

we went to a wedding in York and the wedding party walked from the church to the reception and it was fab, being such a touristy city and the groom being in full military dress it caused quite stir! I also walked from wedding venue to recption across Leeds bridge - some of my fav pics are of the walk through town - and walking back to our hotel at 3 in the morning in my dress was fantastic - we had people cheering and clapping up!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

A horse and carriage or walking to the church is a very romantic idea, it's not so good if it's absolutely bucketting it down and the bride has to be stuffed into the back of her dad's Fiesta instead..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
Could you not just walk?0

It wasnt my wedding so I have no idea. I can't imagine they bought it though. Should imagine it was hired from some theatrical supplies place, but again no idea how much that would have cost. It was just an idea though.0
