I take it the first challenge was to take an unwanted Xmas gift to the charity shop then? Apologies - I am a bit slow!

If so, I have the perfect unwanted smellies set to take to one! I'm passing a couple tomorrow so can drop that in then. :)
    £170/£12,000

A long way to go but enjoying the challenge! ;)

Well could do with some more ideas to totally maximise my income. Will be trying my hand at buying from local carboot and reselling on eBay. Don't really have an expert area I have, I would say fashion is if I do have one though. So will try my hand at that. Even at a fiver pure profit per item, could easy see me doing 300 items a month-list 10 items a day while sending off 10 sold items a day. So would be 1500..that is very ambitious figures though and I would struggle to buy 70 items a week to sell on.
Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

Rictus123 - unless you have a business account on ebay, I think there is a limit on how many items/month you can list. Others will know more than me. I hate it. Also I think Elly used to do it the other way round sometimes and find good local "collect only" ebay bargains and sell on at car boots. There is a local bargain finder website where you can put in your postcode and see whats for sale locally.

It was very ambitious figures i posted but how hard can it be to buy an item and then sell it on with £5 profit? You just have to do it multiple times to get the income growing.

Hi Rictus123. Not sure if you were responding to me but I wasn't saying it wasn't possible to make a profit that way - just giving you a heads up about the rules on ebay preventing you selling more than a certain number of items a month and also giving you another angle you could consider. I don't doubt it being possible to get £5 profit on items ;)

Ok 1christmas present item put by door for charity shop - not sure it counts as haven't taken it there yet. But it'll do for me.
2nd challenge - I hate ebay and just could not bring myself to do it but didn't want to give up on week 2 so I decided to try out zapper and managed to find 25 books they will accept and entered codes etc. Just need to pack and send in the next couple of days. So I am counting that as a success for the 2nd challenge. Plus I get £20.41 which is less than they are worth but at least they will be out of the way. Had never heard of zapper until reading this thread the other day so thats great.
Elly - lol about the giving up drink. Do you remember the first year when quite by chance I always seemed to post just after you mentioned having a drink and made you look like you were always "merry"!!

pmsl hubby says i've not been drinking enough and thats why i'm suffering lol
however i think part of it is i want to use my days this year to do stuff visiting friends ,family and also including things i havent done before ,and if i cant drive until 12 it sort of puts a limit on what you can do in your weekend .i dont drink during the week at all so it seems to be more of a time thing for me if you see what i mean.
going to have a look at zapper then get kids clothes ready as they are back at school tomorrow :j
So finally debt free and it feels amazing however continuing here to stay debt free.Next declutter house and body and finally swim under that waterfall x

  • Morning everyone. Does anyone have any ideas on where to sell childrens / toddler / baby books? I have at least 6 big boxes to shift and as most are in excellent condition, I would ideally like to make more than 20p each at a bootsale. Hope someone can help. Many thanks

Or Green Metropolis, Ebay or www.Zapper.co.uk (I have used Ebay and Green Metropolis but not Zapper) or put into FB "items for sale in ........" and add the town where you live, free listing there are usually loads of groups which you can join to sell stuff

maybe just drink a little less  - I can get pretty happy on just 1 or 2 glasses of wine and soda these days and hardly any ill effects next day. Only prob is its quite wasteful of wine as never seem to finish a bottle before it goes off :o.lol
Can't imagine what state I'd be in if I drank the bottles of red wine and pints of Guiness that I used to consume :D

Only tried a few children's books on Zapper but it seemed to be a bit hit and miss about accepting them. Prices I got for my books (mainly adult non fiction) varied from 30p to £2+. Some were probably worth more but at least guaranteed to get rid and free postage so not complaining. Could prob have got more a different way if I made more effort.
