Because we're not there, we're staying with family! I take it you've seen all the human occupants and are sure this isn't the case?
Must have been a pretty dull Christmas for you, watching the neighbour's door 24/7, did someone bring you a dinner at least to eat at your watch post?
Poor dogs. If my dog was still alive there would be no way I would leave him for days. If you decide to get a dog it should be going on walks all year round. You should of taken the dogs with you/left them with someone else/in kennels?
People who dont look after their pets is what angers me the most. :mad:0 -

They've clearly taken the dog to their family with them, you pair of donkeys. Just because somebody says they've not taken the dogs for a walk because they're staying with family, doesn't mean they've left the dogs home alone.
Was it really that difficult?0 -
LOL

can i just ask what is normal for walking a dog?
we got a dogue de bordeaux pup and were told not to walk him for more than 15-20 mins a day.
i always took on the role of walking our new gorgeous pup as i was always out in the street with the kids etc.
all the kids on our estate came on the walk with me
our pup is now 7 months old and v v strong.
i am 5ft tall and 8 stone and am finding it v hard to control him.
i got a stop-pull harness but still find it hard - hav even knocked down a neighbour's fence being pulled.
i tend to wait til very late to take him out so no one can see
my brother in law said someone at his workplace told him "i see a lass being pulled all over by a dogue de bordeaux in ***** every night"
clearly this is me
hubby just smiles. isnt at all concerned am out at 11-12pm being dragged all over in the freezing cold by our dog
just says its my fault as i should slap him on nose when he pulls
am full of cold today and proper feeling sorry for myself after just taking pooch out and being dragged all over, sorry.0 -
Ok, you need to stop the pulling before he causes an accident. I would suggest chucking the harness - you're only giving him something to pull with! Join a training class and concentrate on working on loose lead work. How is he with other dogs? you mention you only walk him late at night - that's no good for him or you! He needs to be safe with other dogs or he's an accident waiting to happen.
He will very soon be in the 'teenage' phase and you'll find him even more difficult until he fully matures. Are you intending having him neutered? That should calm him down a little, but please do address the control issues now before it becomes a real issue!0 -

I use the 5 minutes per month in age as a guideline. 3 month old dog gets 15mins, 6 months half and hour and so on.
Oh, and Caroline_a is spot on.0 -
Ditch the harness, Caroline is spot on - only encourages to pull.
Get a gentle leader or a halti for when YOU walk the dog.
Slap the OH on HIS nose and get HIM to walk the pup so late at night....
Classes - definitely - is he ok with other dogs?
Pls do not put yourself (and others) at risk by walking him alone, after dark when you clearly have no control over him....0 -
If you took the time to read the thread you would see that I don't spend all day looking out the window. Bit difficult to watch my neighbours door when they live upstairs! Sounds like this thread has hit a spot with you, don't you walk yours either!? thats when you have'nt left them home alone for xmas :rotfl:
How ironic that you told me to read the thread when you haven't even bothered to read my post properly! :rotfl:
As if I'd have left the dogs alone in a flat for days, jeez.0 -
