But I need to get through tomorrow. Any ideas what me and a 7 year old can do for free? Or nearly nothing...
For future check out if any kids am pics run at your local cinema. The one at vue costs just over £1 each. Take your own drinks/snacks! My local ice skating does a couple of cheap sessions a few afternoons a week £2.50 inc skate hire. I don't skate I just stand and watch, somewhere discreet with my own bottle of pop :D

What did she get for christmas? Anything you could play with there? I've got an 8yo DD and she got lip balm making kit and a shampoo one. I read one of your posts where you said you are a chemistry teacher. I've got a science mad (nearly) 12 year old, so I know there's plenty of entertainment to be had with a bottle of vinegar and some bicarb. :rotfl:
  • Thanks keepingmotivated, tru and spendless for the fantastic words of advice and wisdom. As expected I woke up this morning with raging heartburn and a hangover, but feeling a bit less sorry for myself than I did last night.:p

Took ds off to nursery, came home and did a bit of os stuff (hoover, dust, sort a cupboard, clean bathroom), then dd and I baked a cake using up the leftover dried fruit I'd found lying about.:D
Took her out to the park and to feed the ducks, followed by an afternoon of origami (in a pack she got for Christmas). Also spoke to a friend, whose other half works at cinema and can quite often sneak us in for free, so that's arranged for over the weekend.:T I'm afraid I'm a miserable so and so when it comes to doing chemistry at home - although I'd love to learn more about making my own soap.

Also had a phone call from a social worker. Friend as mentioned above has applied to foster, and is in the latter stages of the process. I'm down as her reference and the social worker is coming to see me tomorrow to discuss things. Can't help but feel I'll be on display but dd has already said she can't wait to tell the social worker how much fun my friend is. So hopefully all will go well there.

I've managed a nsd so really feeling like I might be back on track - I knew yesterday was just a minor wobble. Thanks again to all of you (and spendless thanks for thinking of me - I noticed on another thread)

    Cheers all

Pleased you found something free to do. :T My DS spent part of the afternoon feeding the venus fly trap his god-parents bought him for Christmas pieces of ham from a cocktail stick. Can't decide whether to be pleased he entertained himself cheaply or narked he used all the ham I had. :rotfl:
  • Hi wanabee just found your diary, wow lady you really have been through the mill at times, but it shows you have courage, strength and determination to get through what you have and you will beat the debt, wishing you all the luck in the world.

  • Oh my goodness. I cannot believe I wrote a long and rambling post and then lost it.
Still time to say Happy New Year to all - hope it is healthy, happy and prosperous for all of you. I'm hoping 2012 is the year for me after my lbm and joining up on here. I feel fantastic for finally facing up to things.
Had to ring one of my cc people this morning. I've been getting charged double interest for 3 months but hadn't had the nerve to phone them until today (pure embarrassment). Well, I don't know why I worried because the lady was SO LOVELY, and helpful and encouraging. She explained to me what was going on and why, and offered to send me some old statements free of charge so I can sort it in my own head.
Have my mam and her hubby coming for dinner this afternoon. I don't often have people over to the house - I'm usually embarrassed about the state of it. I'm looking forward to it though - should be a nice afternoon. Me and the kids have been busy prepping and cleaning (leaving the clearup and washing up for OH after the football). I wish I could be more flylady - wondering whether or not to join the weekly challenge on the os boards. Just wish I got more enjoyment out of things like cleaning, decorating and gardening. Still, I fully intend to get the kids on board now they're older and who knows, I might start enjoying some of this stuff.
    Happy NY all, and cheers!

  • Lovely afternoon,
Good food, good company and excellent wine.
Here's hoping I can make it to midnight!

  • Afternoon all.
Well, I made it to midnight, just about. DS fell asleep shortly after dinner at about 5pm. I stupidly thought that would be him gone for the night, but he returned at 9pm full of beans and raring to go, just as his sister was off to bed and me and his dad were getting a little worse for the wear. OH had fallen asleep on the sofa by half eleven and I was absolutely shattered but DS wasn't. Finally he drifted off at 1am with me about 30 seconds after him.:shhh:
Then he was the first one up this morning at half seven. Needless to say I wasn't ready to get up. He's obviously tired because his behaviour slips a bit when he's tired. I thought 'today will be a long day'.
Anyway, I've tried to start the year all OS.
I tidied, hoovered, mopped and then made 3 loads of food using the leftovers (enough for 10 meals) which are now boxed and either in the fridge or freezer.:D
All decorations down apart from Christmas tree, and I will make myself go into the loft for it later - I'm working this afternoon so maybe when I get home at 6 (looking forward to Eastenders and Sherlock tonight so will use that as my motivation).
DS and DD mucked in and helped with the cooking and cleaning, OH slept his hangover off and surfaced in time for football. I have a bit of a headache now so might nap for an hour before I go out to work this afternoon, with a bit of luck DS will join me.:)
The New Year really is my fresh start... I've decided on which diet to follow to get in shape for my wedding in August (old ww points), and I intend to be more frugal, OS and flylady - work permitting, and I don't have the excuse of tiny kids making me too tired to bother any more. They're big enough to help now.
    Happy New Year!

  • Well, it's the last day of my hols, and the last day the four of us are off together for a while. So we decided to go out for lunch today - just to Pizza Hut, and I had a 'kids eat free' voucher. So the four of us are fully fed and watered for £22.50 which feels like a lot, but it was really nice for us to spend some time together and one of the few things all of us enjoy (no football, internet games etc).
I'm enjoying my new mse/os ways. Have joined the flylady thread and managed to get everything done as planned this morning. I feel just about ready to go back to work and desperately hopeful that I can keep the motivation I currently have once I'm back into being a full time worker...
Of course my spending the cash at the restaurant means that OH will be paying the required spends when dd goes back to school on Wednesday.
