Purely coincidence that UPP share a registered office with BDML then?
Not that I have a problem with BDML; all my dealings with them (as representatives of Halifax) were good.
Seriously guys, avoid Purely Pets. They can be the nicest people in the world, but are they going to be offering pet insurance in 5 years time?
How do they share a registered office with BDML? Yes they are both based in Portsmouth, but at different locations.
I see that the Purely Pets £7500 lifetime cover policy now has a 5 star Defaqto rating. You pay your money and take your chances. I'm perfectly happy renewing with Purely Pets.0 -

Hmm. BDML seem to have moved, but at my last renewal the address was exactly the same as that below. Make of that what you will.

You are quite right, BDML used to have a presence in The Connect Centre which is a large office suite building used by a plethora of different companies. They are quite seperate companies however, albeit at some time they shared the same address for conducting some part of their businesses. Apologies for suggesting they have always been at different locations.0 -
I too was sceptical about using a company that wasn't too mainstream, however have found their service flawless (I pay c£23 per month per dog for the top level of cover). I have 2 dogs registered with them and within the first couple of months my dog had to have emergency surgery on her eye for c£3,500 - they reimbursed within 2 weeks with absolutely no fuss. A couple of weeks later she needed another surgery c£4,000 and again they paid it within 2 weeks. I'm not usually someone who reviews but they were so helpful and it was so easy to recover the money I felt I had to review them for their excellent service!
Certainly would recommend them and wouldn't dream of changing! :T0 -
Im always a bit concerned when a first post is a glowing report on a service. May be Im getting old and more sceptical0

My concern is not with their ability to offer insurance today; I'm sure they're great.
My concern is that insurance policies are for 12 months whereas dogs live for 12+ years (this applies to lifetime policies, that are effectively rolling 12m contracts). There's nothing stopping even established brands from leaving the market, but at least they're established brands.
Even then, having been stung on that from myself with Halifax, I'd personally stick to either companies that underwrite themselves (i.e. AXA) or massively established companies (Pet Plan & NFU).0 -
had 3 policies with them since sept, 2 more added in jan. have to say each time i call i request a call back to save money on the call and they do immediatly to my mobile no quibble. made a claim in feb which was difficult my end as id moved and got an adult dog after moving so couldnt do a previous vet check/prove previous history but they were helpful and as soon as i answered a few questions and they double checked with the vet i use now the claim was settled within a week and a cheque received. i got discount on insuring more than one pet paying £10.76 a month for the £2000 per year for life policy and doing a comparison the cover was cheap for the kinds of conditions my breeds might be prone to. maybe not all singing all dancing insurance but with 5 dogs im insuring them all for around the same as some of the more well known insurers wanted for a single dog, the cover may only be £2000 but unless one gets cancer or something horrific its enough for me. i cant afford insurance that will cover every single remote possibility so went for one giving enough cover for basic issues eg eyes and ears issues, joint injuries, gastric diseases etc and vet investigations. i asked for policy details to be emailed and got them within the hour. all in all at present im happy with the claims system, happy with the cover, happy with the service and most of all happy with the cost. yes for a rottie or other large breed that probably going to need cruciate issues maybe its not enough cover but you cant expect every insurer to offer a policy that covers every breed for every known condition especially ones that are sort of expected to happen and still keep it cheap.0

I would not recommend this insurer.
I found this post searching on Google. I've just had a claim for my dog declined claiming we had previous knowledge of condition despite this being to the contrary. Obviously there are no vet records etc to state this. This is on top of me having spoken to one of their personnel yesterday (post arrived today) stating that a cheque was in the post.
Given what I know now I would avoid this company and choose another.0
