As title really - been doing some comparisons and they seem to have the best bang for buck cover but I've never heard of them - google doesn't seem to come up with any information either way so just seeing if you guys have had any experience?
Cheers in advance

I too was browsing online and did some comparisons for my five and three year old Rotties. Purely Pets came up with what looked to be very good cover, It wasn't until I started looking at their policy wording and fine-print that I realized that they are extremely restrictive with their cover!! I have had a few Rotties in the past (before these two) and they have needed cruciate surgery which has cost me way over £3000. After reading their policy wording it seems that Purely will only cover you up to £1500 for this treatment and it doesn't say if that is per leg or in total! Whilst their monthly prices might be cheap there is no way I could afford to be covered by such restrictive terms. The other thing to be aware of is that you have to pay THEM to cancel your policy (£30) and if you've claimed before you want to cancel you still have to pay for the whole year!!!
On top of all that not being able to find any information about them online and not being able to see any customer reviews makes me feel very skeptical about insuring my pets with them. I love my Rotties like they were my own kids, if I'm going to insure them with a company I want to know that I will be able to give them the best treatment I can, I just don't see myself being able to do that with this company.0 -
Never heard of them.0

Seems to be lots of exclusions that could cause issues. Cruciate ligament ops is one, they also exclude investigation/lab test costs if there's no actual specific thing they're testing for from the sounds of it, nothing relating to or caused by behavioural issues, etc.
I'd be wary0 -
Hi, my Yorkies are insured with Purely Pets although I have never had to make a claim, so cannot comment on that aspect. The cover seems good to me, although I can understand concerns about the cruciate ligament limit (here's hoping). Purely Pets are administerd by Ultimate Pet Partners (UPP) who are, on a smaller scale perhaps, competitors with BDML and they administer pet insurance for many companies like Admiral (my previous insurer) Vetsure, 1st Central and others. Usually UPP underwrite their own policies via Ultimate Insurance, but the difference with Purely Pets is that their policies are underwritten by Great Lakes Reinsurance and Groupama. Great Lakes are owned by Munich RE who are well known in financial circles and include DAS insurance in their portfolio. As said, I cannot comment on their claims service, but have done a bit of research before buying my policies. Sorry if this is a bit tedious, but I thought that anyone being put off mainly by not having heard of Purely Pets, might now be aware of their standing and simply consider whether the cover offered is suitable for them or not.0

Well in the end I emailed them to enquire, and the email bounced back as a Daemon Mailer.
So I figured i'd ring them instead, admittedly out of hours, but I got a really cheap sounding answering machine (like something you might have at home if you were desperate)
Decided to avoid them0 -
I did some homework too on these people as I was a tad suspicious because of no online evidence. Their office called me about the quote and I got quite a bit of useful information from a chap called Dane. He advised that Purely Pets has only been on the market since December 2011. Its basically new so there's the reason for no online presence. They are keen for new business, but i didnt feel pressured or overly sold anything. I hope they stick by this approach. They are underwritten by Great Lakes and administered by Ultimate Insurance who are already providing pet insurance under UIS. As with any insurance its about the administration of your policy. I've looked at the policy indepth and it seems to be pretty comprehensive and is particularly good for me as i wanted European transfer cover. The limits on the policy apply for when being abroad. Really useful. Other insurers offer miserable terms or not at all which is odd in a time when more and more pet passports are issued.
I'm taking a punt and gone with them. The policies I have either had in the past are excessive in premium or lamentable in cover relative to the premium. Especially in value insurance sector. I went for their top cover. it should provide complete peace of mind and still comes in cheaper and more comprehensive than many. And I' have looked at a lot. I will report back if i have any thing further to add but to be honest i dont really want to claim on pet insurance because it means summat real bad has happened to my mutt! We shall see. Fingers crossed they live up to being a solid product and this commendation stands the test of time....0 -
I dont think its a wise move, but if you have decided then I hope it comes right for you.0

I don't think it is either, especially with such a new company. How many people have claimed in just 2 months to provide good reviews & how many vets would claim with such a new company? I got a quote but they were more expensive than Pet Plan for Chaya lol0

Does this mean if ongoing treatment, say for diabetes/cancer ALL claims must be in within 90 days? That might be impossible!0 -
ok had insurance for my cat who was 16+(age unsure since it was a rescue i got 9 yrs ago) and each year the insurance kept going up and up.
So in jan she was due for renewal (i never ever claimed before since her bills never was beyond 50£ or so) so went with this guys who were willing to insure her and at a good piece about £6 a month while rest wanted £15+ due to her been so old.
paperwork was a breeze .Sadly few days ago she got very sick and the vet kept her to sleep ,i phoned them to cancel and they were very good and cancelled the policy ,asked me more then once about the vet bill and offered to pay despite i had a compulsory excess of £99 and bill for putting her to sleep was about £50.Still they offered to pay and i turned it down though.
lady on phone was pretty sympathetic too.
In 2 days i got a condolence note from them even!
Now i have no pet but the day i get one i will insure with this guys in a blink of the eye.
Best deal on market, fast and helpful CSR,willing to pay out even when they don't have to,condolence note ,man if only they did home and car insurance too!
Also note they are very very new and as such very little reviews but keen to break in the market.
There was if i remember an option for pre existing conditions but it cost a hell lot more and i did not even look into that since my cat was pretty healthy for her ages until she suddenly got very sick.0
