Hi PAP.
Sorry about the driving test. Just wanted to say that it took me 4 attempts to pass and I was convinced I would never pass....but I did...and since that day in 1989...I have (touch wood!!) had only one bump.
Yet people I know who passed first or second time have written cars off and had all sorts of issues. Remember - you are getting hours of professional tuition that will stand you in good stead.
It took my Mum 5 times to pass and she started learning very late on in life and I was so worried about her as she seemed so nervous, but (again touch wood very much so!!) she is a good driver now. I trust her not to do silly things.
You don't have to answer this but I was just wondering if there was a reason why you stick with this instructor who has to travel to your city. If you were with someone else who could teach you little and often then it might not "saturate" you so to speak and you would have more momentum if you see what I mean.
BUT you no doubt have your reasons and that's fair enough.
Keep your chin up babe - you will get there.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

well i have had 5 instructors so far this is my 6th... it went like this
~ driving school (1) lady ~ pink badge
~ private lady ~ removed all my confidence
~ driving school (2) chap ~ battered my confidence more
~ driving school (2) chap ~ fantastic though he was the one
*accident and i couldnt use my legs properly for 6 months*
chap above no longer teaching
~ driving school (3) chap ~ from wales, know one of my managers, he has been trying to get rid of me since i failed my first test, text me 2 hours before a lesson telling me i was dumped (test was due in 2 weeks)
~ driving school (3) chap who i am with now ~ basically i rung the school and told them what happened and she tryed to get me seen as fast as possible with the same car hence i got this instructor, i mean he is great but as you say the 4 hour thing is a bit much but we should be doing every other week/2 weeks fingers crossed0 -
confessions of a superpap ~
ok time to come clean... i am spending far too much money each month now, to the point where i am taking money out of my ing savings monthlynow this is how i went back into debt so i must curb this... except my locked saver and web saver (total £30) i am saving nothing per month  nothing for anything be it holiday/car/uni/outgoings
this scares me my outgoing each month is increasing with my spends and it needs to stop NOW!
another confession... i allowed my brother to purchase a bed on my argos card (0%) and pay £10 per week back to me. Ok i know the risks however he has payed for 4 weeks now and i have told him if he doesnt pay there will be hell to pay. I think he got the message and every friday there is always a £10 note on my desk ~ as agreed... sounds good ish doesnt it... however except one payment i have frittered the rest (£30), mainly on scrapping stuff and animal food  so i need to repay that  but i have now dug out my old purse and wil put the money away in there till i get the bill each month to pay along side my repayments
I have transferred all but the pence out of my savings account (i think its £240.00) but that must be payed off my holiday on sunday!! then my savings are all empy bar halifax
anyways getting to the point from now untill pay day in december i am to buy nothing unless it can come out of my weekly spends  except anything i make on ebay that is put into my paypal account ie i have £16 in there now and topcash back is transferring £50 in there next week
right this week untill the 11th i have £37.80 this is broken down as ~ £10.00 postage for ebay ~ £20 for friends night out tommorow ~ £7.80 weekly spends
then the 11th till the 24th i have £10.00
untill the 15th which is payday i have £131.63 in my bank account, to pay out i have
[STRIKE] £70.00 ~ mum[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE] £10.00 ~ 11th weekly spends[/STRIKE] looks like a nsw next week
[STRIKE] £25.00 ~ locked saver[/STRIKE]
£130.00 ~ driving 13th 4 hours plus test cost
[STRIKE] £24.00 ~ bus card[/STRIKE]
which means i should have £1.63 left which must stay in my account!
then on payday my soa will be this...
except my weekly spends i will buy both my black and colour ink cartridge for my printer and then i have £100.00 to spend on xmas leftovers (ie small things) and at staff shopping on the 18th... thats it as i have to pay back my mother for more over spending i did this weekend
£100.00 ~ mum/rent
£65.00 ~ BT
£11.00 ~ house insurance
£48.00 ~ bus cards
£200.00 ~ 10 hours driving
£40.00 ~ 0% furniture card ~ Argos
£30.00 ~ Argos ~ confession
£25.00 ~ Halifax ~ locked
£5.00 ~ Halifax ~ web saver
£20.00 ~ Sarah’s cards, monthly scrap
£19.99 ~ ink365 (quidco) printer inks
£40.00 ~ weekly spends
£100.00 ~ xmas vouchers/leftovers/staff shopping
[STRIKE] £9.48 ~ owed to mum for scrapping stuff brought saturday[/STRIKE]
total £693.99
so guys please can you watch me like a hawk, i must not spend more than allocated. And i am even going to the lengths of keeping all my cards at home and taking just some cash out with me, this includes my staff card so i cant buy anything as well as my main cards and boots card... i also need a goal/challange ~ anyone like to set me one?0 -
Do you still have the money for the furniture card put aside PAP?
How about clearing your brother's 0% debt (without telling him) and then saving what he gives you to make you interest? No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
pap,
you have been SO GOOD!
What's making you want to blow cash at the moment? (Other than shiny things?)
I bet it's annoying outside influences stressing you out....

Hey Pap, don't kick yourself too hard! At least you recognised in plenty of time that you were slipping back into your old ways!
Now that you are debt free you are entitled to spend a little of your hard earned money on yourself, else what is the point of earning it! And obviously Pap's cards will need some spends before anything is made.
Just take a deep breath, forgive yourself for the spends, and come out fighting again!

Hey Pap
Sorry about the driving test......but it's an improvement on the last one, so that's a GOOD THING! Am I right in thinking you would have passed if you hadn't rolled back? You are so close now, don't give up.
As for the overspending - you have noticed it before it got out of control, so you can do something about it. And I know you will, because you are SUPER PAP...lol!
Well done on the payrise, and good luck with your new venture."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Sorry to hear about the driving test PAP (are you SURE there are no instructors closer to you?!)
Well done on deciding to knuckle down with your finances again! I must to as well as the fact that I can walk to the pub for lunch is costing me a flipping fortune!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup
