  • sammy no worrys... and thanks for all your help, you seem to have done a great job to get there ~ well done you :j

now this is where i get stuck, i have no idea where i would find a job  and i dont know how the 'ladder' of learning accountancy works. I have scoured the internet but its mainly a level based hence i cant do it  I dont want to go to a brick uni as i cant afford it looking into a job is good but again where do i start? who do i approch?

with regards to the website is that the one you used? it looks really good but its a minefield of information so i will have to sit down and read it all. I dont really know what sector i want to be in, prob book keeping/small accountancy in a large business and then maybe when i am older be a personal accountant  however i also like the finacial advisor side too

Oh thanks sammy i will find that, do you think this site will be better than the ou certificate?

thanks again for all your help

AAT is much more practical based, I think thats what I was trying to say when I talked about the kind of person you are. I am not a great 'book' learner, but I know I pick things up through practise.

I actually 'fell' into payroll when the woman who did the payroll got sacked and no one else could switch the computer on. The computer did the work I just input the figures and kind of learnt the theory afterwards (usually when I had made a mistake). I then worked in the purchase ledger department, processing purchase invoices did a stint in the sales department processing sales invoices and then went into the preparing accounts side of things. (control accounts etc).

You could always sign up for the book keeping side of things on BPP. I would then try to get a job in a company in the purchase ledger or sales ledger side of the business...You could always approach an agency who specialises in finance jobs and tell them you want to get in the industry and you are learning but you need experience.

I can thoroughly recommend BPP their books are excellent. You can usually get them cheap on ebay too. If you want to start the book-keeping I will give you my msn, phone number and email address and help you if you like..

    Hi Pap,

Have just been reading your diary about the cost of an OU course. Did you know that you can use Tesco vouchers towards the cost. You can sometimes buy these cheap on ebay. For instance I sold some tokens to the value of £50 for £27. However you can also buy vouchers that still need to be converted and they are worth 4 times the value. Its just a thought. Though you have to be careful and make sure that you can use the ones you buy off ebay for the OU.

right courses ~ i am still not 100% sure which one to do/what to do/how to do it? basically the plan was pass my gcse maths ~ go to the ou and get the accountancy course ~ save save save while doing that ~ then upon completion leave work and do work experience for 3 to 6 month (hence all the saving to pay for my bills) ~ then find a fulltime job in accountancy with the opertunitys to complete higher qualifications.... well thats my dream plan. But you see i am torn now

Anyways can you help? i need to had in my coursework before xmas (2 pieces) ~ one is all finished and i have everything but how do i set it out? when i was at school i never did maths coursework ~ oh tell a lie i basically wrote a few sums and that was it ~ hence why i failed. Now when you are doing french/science its easy but how do i set out maths? Any ideas? I am aiming it will be done not this weekend but next as i have 4 days off :j help :rotfl:

thats it ~ oh mattresses are sold out so i have no idea what to do? maybe next time they are in? money wise all is fine ~ bills day today and all is fan dabby dosey :j isnt it always this is superpap typing :rotfl:

When I did my GCSE maths coursework, I did one page full of sums and whatever, and then wrote out what I was doing and explained what everything meant. What is your coursework on? x
