Yup OU or NVQ route is best.
I'm going with the NVQ purely because you can't be signed up to two universities at the same time, otherwise I'd be right there with youNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -

Hi Pap, sorry I fell asleep last night (got a bad cold)....
I had a complete change of career after having my kids and fell into accountancy and I love it. But I am crap at maths and my boss says accountancy is NOT about maths its like doing a jigsaw.
Can I suggest that you don't go to a brick uni to do accountancy, I think someone of your nature (and that is not in any way an insult - its a compliment) would benefit from trying to get a job in a company that would enable you to get some experience and train at the same time. That is how I did it, I started off on quite a crap wage but willing to learn. They paid for me to train and gave me suppport.
OR try www.bpp.com and do the AAT. Its an excellent qualification and a good grounding. It can be a three year course at college but I did it in 18 months by home study whilst working (and I had three children). You can also do the courses online. Then once you have that qualification you can go on to do ACCA or CIMA (depending on whether you want to go into practice or industry).
Good luck and if you need ANY help pm me because I think you would make a brilliant accountant. You have an enquiring mind with a big dash of common sense!Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Actually I have just had a look at the bpp website and they do an excellent book keeping course which would be ideal to start with and then you could go on to do the intermediate AAT level.Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford
