Money mad saving mom of 4 gorgeous girls, one with special needs, shes special and i needed her ..x
  • I would be careful with comparing archos tablets as there's 2 models called the 101. There is their 8th generation one that runs android 2.2 and their 9th generation that runs android 3.2 and the specs inside are quite different as well.

The vega is great for the money if you can mod it, outthe box it is rubbish but if your are comfortable with Modding and flashing roms it can become a great machine for £200. Its biggest flaw is the screen has terrible viewing angles and is quite fragile, mine got dropped on cobbles and smashed but someone on MoDaCo had the same problem and his was dropped from the sofa on to carpet
  • Yea i got a the vega yesterday, modded it and its fab :-) Highly recommend it, but only modded.

Slightly off topic.. Has anyone had any experience of Jexaa tablets? Been looking at the Jextab 710, but as I have zero knowledge of tablets, not sure if it is a good buy or not?

    Thanks :)

i think this review is enough to say avoid. Id stick to something branded as you have limited knowledge and as such will want something to work out of the box rather than having to mod, alter it to get it working.

Very disappointed. I have just lost £39. Purchased a Jexa tablet supposed to be brand new jexa tablet. It was pre used by someone else as it had contact Ph nos etc. Hanged 5 times in 1 week :( didn't work asper their specification. So e mailed for support no reply. Logged return on website. Was accepted. So had to spent n send it back. jexa replies , they will take 20% restocking fee even after I have cleaned it spick & span without a finger print, while I got it dirty with finger prints. Jexa says It's in d terms & conditions. Had to send so many e mails requesting full refund. But dint reply for my last e mail & refunded giving me a loss of £39. Now u can easily take your decision. All d best. Just purchased Archos 101 Android tablet (from local tesco store****** Price £149.99/- ****** AMAZINGGGGG price. Which Is 10' perfect clear screen good tablet ranked as budget 12th out of 13 best android tablets of 2011. http://www.techradar.com/news/mobile-computing/tablets/13-best-android-tablets-in-the-world-905504 click this link and decide on a good one, if We purchase from our local stores its easy & no postage coast to return if u r unhappy with it. I am taking my time to show customers anger & to save others.

sorry to be negative here but this really isn't a good deal not just because its a terrible product but also because you can pick these devices up on ebay and many other sites for less than £40 brand new inc. postage. Having owned iPads and using these devices you really cant compare the two its like buying a Fisher Price oven for your kitchen and expecting to be actually having dinner.
  • By a 2nd hand netbook instead?

This is really hardly worth having.

So, if you guys had a 14 year old with autism who tends to break things and who wants an ipad, what would you buy? I'm not buying an ipad, she will smash it at some point during the year, but I am warming to the idea of her having a tablet because there are apps for special needs kids (I think she uses some at school). She will want to have some music on it, she likes looking at pictures of stuff on google images and she likes looking on the next website :) She just really wants an ipad type of thing for christmas... The budget is up to £100, that's what the other kids have had spent on them.
