Right, I'm gonna have to drag myself out of this Bermuda Triangle. Whenever I start reading this thread I seem to completely loose track of time :-) I'm guessing there will be a new thread by the time I log back on later, just hope I can find you all. Have a gr8 day everyone.

That sort of tradition was prevalent when we got married but I don't know of many who kept up this tradition.

The 9 year old cake I was posting about still had its' icing on and seemed fine. I had some of it with custard (after removing icing which I don't like) and it was OK. As in your mum's case, the rest of our cake went to feed the birds who wolfed it down:)
