If it's such an easy job with all the perks then train for 5 years like I did and do it. Easier to talk the talk than walk the walk:p.
My husband is also one of those who works over Xmas, he also did shifts, night shifts and all sorts to look after our daughter and provide while I retrained at uni.
I can't be bothered to row with anyone, have a lot going on personally (terminally ill father in law, nearing the end) and a job that means I have to have a brave face every day.
FloFlo anyone who says working in a school is easy has not been in one since they left themselves. In my job I work with over 400 schools but am lucky to just dip in and out instead of facing students every day like do working with students that dont want to be there (majority seem like that). I dont have the red tape, restrictions and targets as well as all the other add ons you have to cope with i.e HOD, PSHE etc, etc. I am also a school governor and have been in two schools for over 10 years so get to see a little from the other side. I salute all the teaching and non teaching staff in schools they do a fantastic job and get very little recognition for it. Well done! :T
Also hugs to you and your family we went through the same last christmas with my FIL and spent most of it at the local hospice. Puts things into perspective doesn't it. Take care xIf it wasn't for blinds it'd be curtains for all of us:dance:0 -

FIL doesn't want to go into hospice or hospital - he knows he won't come out. They have sitters going to their house 3 times a week to MIL a rest - she is recovering from cancer. They tried to get him to come off his meds but he won't, so he is hanging in there with as much morphine as he can stand - so hard to watch.
Thank you for you post.:o0 -

I actually am in in school for 10 hours most week days (probably nearer 11 hours) and spend more time time at home planning and preparing.
Some people should have spent longer in education as they are coming across as most ignorant.0 -
I have worked in a few schools and can safely say in my opinion, unless you have done it, you don't realise how hard the teachers work!!
If you are a parent and you have one of your childs friends over to play, i don't know about you, but i feel thats quite a big responsibility on its own, you are in charge of someone elses child, keeping them safe etc.
Times that by 30 children, not only do teachers have to keep them safe, ensure they know exactly where they are all the time, they also have to ensure they learn (which is a huge challenge on its own when like someone else mentioned some of them don't want to be there).
And as for them not working 12 hour days, no they probably do more some days what with all the planning etc they have to do to enable them to teach children. If only it was a 9-3 job!!
sorry rant over:D
ps, i'm not saying this is the hardest job in the world, only put my penny's worth in because it was bought up about teachers having lots of time off xx0
