Just to say, don't worry about opening the oven on a fruit cake. Nothing will happen. If you think it's nearly cooked, stick a skewer (or knife) through the middle, and if no mix comes out stuck to the skewer, it's done. Well actually, if you're under the time she states, I would give it another 10 mins once you have the clean skewer. If you are around the right time, then take it out and it will be fine. trust me, I'm a cake expert :-)
Ok, I've got a fan assisted oven and it says 4 - 4 1/2 hours so Leenie said 3.15 for hers but she's a professional I seem to remember;) so shall I check mine after 3 1/2 hours. Can you tell I've never cooked a Xmas cake before?:oBeware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:0 -
Would they not have let you go through SS, pay full price, then claim DTD on the offers that did not kick in automatically?
Thought of that and headed to SS tills but they had closed them off:mad:, would have been a nice xmas pressie:heart2:Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.:heart2:0 -

I do it for a living too :-) As long as it's not undercooked or overcooked, you can't really mess it up. They don't sink like sponge cakes do. TBH, if you follow the instructions, I'm sure it will be fine. When I have a fruit cake, I literally get past a few hours then check it every 20-30 mins with the skewer test.
