Ahhhh - thats it then, im usually in before 12noon, I thought that if they wanted us to make use of them b4 they go outta date? But then thats why they are so reduced ! I get it ! So then do you just put them un the freezer rather than use them up? Thanks FK
Yeah most of the meat or pies etc I freeze but my fridge runs nice and cold so I will from time to time eat something a day or so past its date without freezing it. I've not killed myself yet and I've been doing the whoopsies for many years now........

Yeah I agree with all that's been said about whoopsies. They only reduce it right down to rock bottom when they know they'll have to pay to waste it at the end of the day!! They don't want to give us something for nothing :p

My T's is open til 12am and it's normally around 7:30/8pm things go to 90% reductions but only if we're lucky! ;)

Fruit and veg is normally a good one at mine as FK said. Everything down to 10% so a lettuce for 10p, coleslaw 8p etc etc

Fresh meat and fish is very hit and miss in mine, I rarely get a good bargain and if I do it seems to have been 3pm ish on Sunday.

Bread and cakes have only just started being reduced down to 25%, this seems to happen earlier than the meat/fruit&veg but I have to say every store is different.

As far as using up whoopsied items; I too have eaten items a day or 2 out of date with no problems at all especially pre-packed bits like quiche, pork pies etc etc With raw meat I always use my eyes and nose as a guide more so than the use by date. I tend to freeze most fresh meat and I'd be very weary of seafood but as we're not fish lovers, I don't really have to worry about that :D

  • Oh, just a heads up for anyone who uses the redditch store. I popped in there last night on the way home. No space or SEL for the cdm (although it appears its now been fixed so moot really) and all the 1p clipstrip items came up as recalled item. Found the cuddly dinosaur cushion but it scanned at full price of £7. Had a quick look upstairs and non of the belkin ipad cases or dvd players.

Had trouble doing the order but I know it accepted it. Just had a look on Argos website it needs an order number to track, can't find an e-mail with order number :( or remember which credit card I used either

Don't hold your breath for there tracking system, it's just for Argos end and mine still says dispatched for delivery on the 12th. When I phoned this morning they have access to the couriers site which showed mine as out for delivery again today apparently, just phoned again to ask if they were sure and surprise suprise the system is down and they can't check. She just kept saying about it being the christmas period, I realise that so why give a false date to start with, why not let you know when it is actually on it's way.

BTW got an order acknowledgment email straight after I ordered, hope you find yours.

OK, this is probably the dumbest question ever...apologies in advance, but I'm stumped.

With this whole price checker thingiemajig, when there's a diff between items at T & at A, for example the champers someone kindly posted up a wee bit back, or the temptations..... you don't get dtd for it using the price chcker thingie so wouldnt it make sense to just buy it at the cheaper place?

I don't get it.....call me a muppet. I remember that large Guylian choc box being £15 at T but only £5 at A. If you do the pricechecker thingie you get a tenner...right? So doesnt it make sense to just buy it at A instead?
:D if you don't have anything nice to say, keep schtum.

  • I'm awaiting delivery of some cupcakes, I don't hold much hope considering past experiences of deliveries. I have had half a cow of finest beef and 12 bottles of belgian beer "go missing at the depot":eek:

We all know what that means...

(I now there are some good delivery drivers out there)

Ahhhh the 'missing at the depot' excuse!!:eek:

On a positive note though....delivery of cupcakes??!!! :T AMAZING! Hope they arrive soon and you get to sample the delights, they are something you're going to be able to have a munch on yourself aren't they?? It would only seem fair after you've waited for them:)

OT I love your lil pic Westvleteren, is that your dog?? My Mum had a dog just like that when she was growing up, gorgeous :A

Sure it would if I had an As close by. But sadly I don't. So this effectively means I can have the best of both worlds (when it works)
