Redfox you are one of the better mods out there that can spot what is a joke and what is spam, i see the thing about codes and i know some will abuse them if allowed but can we not allow codes like ("disney, andrex" etc) as i don't see those being a big problem like the others? :)

I 100% agree but it depends on who makes the rules. I had one (or maybe more) person/people send me code(s) they didn't need. Because of someone elses generosity I have been able to get 2 DVDs for my sons for Xmas. I'm sitting here with 10 unopened packs of Andrex that have codes that are no use to me. Why would I offer them up to complete stranges on the codes board when they're technically not a discount code or voucher? Thankfully there are more generous people than Scrooges out there.

What is amazing me though is how someone can quote one of my posts when it has been deleted. Maybe they shot themselves in the foot and have all but admitted they reported the posts in question? I guess it doesn't matter now but I know who to thank on Xmas morning when my sons eyes light up at the new films he's getting. After the last 6 months, that smile means more than anything and no amount of anyone trying to ruin that will work.

Thank you redfox for being such a good guide on here. I appreciate your hands are tied and you have a job to do no matter how it comes about ;)

god it must be a nightmare opening this thread up and seeing 20-30 pages to catch up on. thats if you do it daily. but im sure you know most of us try and keep within the rules.

it's what you might call daunting :rotfl:

(and it's several times a day, otherwise I'd be completely behind!)

and yes, I know the majority do follow the rules and a minority just occasionally slip up unintentionally which is why I'm there to gently remind you all :)

  • I'm sure you will manage fine, preparation is the key. My mum managed to cook christmas dinner for 4 on a 2 ringed small gas oven in a caravan :eek: the only failure was the Yorkshire pudding didn't rise, but that was normal. I don' t ever recall them rising:rotfl::rotfl:

Yeah, we just buy Auntie Bessie Yorkshires now. :)

Dare I admit to this, sis and I are from Sunderland, We've been up here since I was 9. Mum and sis are still classed as newcomers in the village:rotfl: but I was a bit more 'accepted' due to working on the farm, meeting other farmers/farm services and picking up the doric lingo.

I consider myself Scottish though. :)

One good game is 'Memory Tray' Put 20 small items onto a tray & give them 1 minute to memorise. Take it away & get them to write down what they remember. Easy :) Especially if you team young with old as they will remember different things :T
on a leaf tray, items like wine gummies, cdm. green tea,
and give an extra prize for the nearest to guess the total price of items on tray, including tray

    Well so much for sleeping!

Have started catching up now, nowhere near finished yet!

Fudge Cake, I hope you’re feeling better now?
Elsie1969, sorry to hear about the kittens but your cat is GORGEOUS, I love how human cats can look sometimes!
Beki88 good news on the insurance!
HappyChappy, as you know my dad was a farmer and he was very health and safety conscious. He moved into a static caravan when my parents separated and one day the push-lever on the toaster broke. He decided to solve this by jamming a broom handle down on it wedged against the ceiling, he then walked off and forgot about it, cue small fire.

HOWEVER this is nothing for a man who, two months later, couldn’t light a match for a bonfire because the matches were damp. He decided the best course of action was to put the matches in the microwave on full power to dry them out, cue small fire and a severely charred (but still working!) microwave. I could go on but I’d be here all week!

Well, I had a great couple of days in Brum with a 7.5 hour EXHAUSTING Saturday trip around Merry Hill/Hell, but nearly had a row over a parking space, I’m NOT sitting and waiting 15 mins for a space for some !!!! in an enormous grey 4 x 4 to come around the corner and try and bully me into submission and take the space that was obviously mine! Obviously he thought a woman wouldn’t be good at parking, quick as a flash he barely had time to blink and I’d darted behind him and got my car in the space hahahaha! Serves you right!!! You don’t mess with the Jess lol! My friend that was with me was laughing so hard she could barely breathe hahahaha!

Nearly got trouted at Cr4dley He4th over the 1p veg crisps, I put some through the ss till to check the price and took them out to the car, then went back in for another 10 bags. I couldn’t go back to the ss till as the woman had already tried to trout me over the pack of 1p peanuts I’d found so I tried to pick a teenager as I reckoned they’d be doing a weekend job and wouldn’t care, unfortunately I picked a nervous sort (oops) who called the manager over, and naturally when you don’t want one they come right over. I’d already asked her where the loo was before so I made an excuse that I’d be back in 2 mins because I couldn’t wait, swearing under my breath the whole time because it’s the only place I’d seen loads of packs. I decided to go back because it’d look suspicious if I legged it (up the lift by the loos, down the travelator and out of the door), and she was sat looking around for me, and gave me the thumbs up, I couldn’t believe it, I was prepared to be grilled over it! So off I walked with my bag full of 1p crisps all with the manager’s blessing woohoo!! SA even asked me where they were so she could nab some lol!

I know there are some posters on here who go to Cr*dley so I didn’t go overboard on the veg crisps, found a 1p conical glass too but it had no barcode on the bottom, I wondered if another MSEr had left it for that reason as it would have to go through as a full-price coloured one.

Found the Finest mixed truffles in several stores as well as the Cadbury Bliss toffee, correct barcodes each time, tried in several stores but they scanned at full price each time :(

That is exactly me right about now. have taken over the reigns from mummy dear and I just want everything to be perfect because I know it's something that we haven't had no disrespect to my mum there, especially as my Nan is coming up! I have this image in my head but I know it will be nothing like it :p

There have been some great tips so a huge thank you to everyone :)

Beki, its smiles on faces and everyone enjoying themselves, including you, that you should be looking for, not the perfect Christmas schene that you would only really get in a Disney film.

Have a couple of glasses of mulled wine while you are doing the preperations and a couple of luxury chocs (just for you as you are doing all the hard work so deserve them). Keep your camera handy and ready to take pictures of the lovely food you prepare. Every time someone smiles take a picture. When something funny happens (even if it is because something went wrong) take a picture. At the end of the day relax in a warm bath with a nice glass of wine, some fragranced candles and look back at all the pictures. Hopefully this will show you what a great job you really did.

Big hugz, it will be gr8 no matter how it turns out as you will be with family who love you :)
