i think many of us put a lot of pressure on ourselves at this time of year, trying to create the 'perfect' christmas, but unless you're Kirsty flamin Alsopp or Jamie Bloomin Oliver with a nicely staged home and a film crew and some soft lighting, hicups will always happen.
This is a time of year for everyone to enjoy so try and take a little time out just for you (even if it's just 5mins with a cuppa) xx
There have been some great tips so a huge thank you to everyone
Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end0 -
Regarding the codes....
I can't see why Andrex/Disney/Coke Zone codes are a problem because any person buying the articles can get the codes. The codes that should not be shared are person specific codes that are issued by the likes of Littlewoods etc. By all means clamp down on those sharing those codes, but Andrex/Coke Zone/Disney, come on, relax the rules a little eh?0 -
Thanks to the op for clipper tea! My local has seemed to be very clean the last few weeks - even the whoopsies haven't been good but they had 4 clip strips of full tea! Plus thanks to everyone posting - this has been making me smile during a rough few weeks! (I am trying to stop lurking and post.... just haven't had much to say recently)
I think I found a new glitch that hasn't been posted (or a good price drop anway altho sadly not a 1p one) - the dog poop bag rolls and holder had an sel of I think 2 pounds with a star on and scanned at 37p!!! Usefull for me as my pup is currently chewing everything including bags (unused i'd like to add), but hope it might help someone else too!0 -
caz2703, I can't check back on specifics as the thread is so long and fast moving but in general if users are asking for codes or offering codes (of any sort) by PM the posts will be deleted. Either they are reported to us or they are seen by the BGs or the forum team. Sorry I can't help more specifically but it is a full time job just keeping up with you lot as it is0

Redfox you are one of the better mods out there that can spot what is a joke and what is spam, i see the thing about codes and i know some will abuse them if allowed but can we not allow codes like ("disney, andrex" etc) as i don't see those being a big problem like the others?
unfortunately I don't make the rules, I just have to ensure that they are followed.0 -
queen_of_cheap wrote: »every year we have some kind of game after christmas dinner.
Last year was pass the parcel, so dont really want to do that again this year.
but this year i am well and truly stuck! The oldest is 75, the youngest is 26 and the rest of us are all somewhere in between. There will be 6 of us
i was thinking about some kind of christmas bingo game but for the life of me cant think how to work it so that everyone ends up with something.
Anyone got any ideas for a different type of game to play?Yes Yes Yes
We have same problem here
One good game is 'Memory Tray' Put 20 small items onto a tray & give them 1 minute to memorise. Take it away & get them to write down what they remember. EasyEspecially if you team young with old as they will remember different things :T

That is exactly me right about now. have taken over the reigns from mummy dear and I just want everything to be perfect because I know it's something that we haven't had no disrespect to my mum there, especially as my Nan is coming up! I have this image in my head but I know it will be nothing like it
There have been some great tips so a huge thank you to everyone
I'm sure you will manage fine, preparation is the key. My mum managed to cook christmas dinner for 4 on a 2 ringed small gas oven in a caravan :eek: the only failure was the Yorkshire pudding didn't rise, but that was normal. I don' t ever recall them rising:rotfl::rotfl:Something unexpected happened which made me smile and still continues to make me smile.

Thanks to everyone for your replies, shouldn't really have a moan on here as I know there are people going through a lot worse. Just really struggling at the minute. Normally I can deal with things but its literally a new problem every week and not getting time to deal with one before the next comes along, right after I made my last post I knocked some milk over on the carpet and spent 10 minutes blubbing about it!
With regards to Christmas, there will be my mum and nan (nan is travelling over 200 miles to come up) both elderly and ill so can't really rely on them too much, step dad who hasn't cooked in the last 20 years, brother and his girlfriend who won't be here while literally just as dinner is being put on the table, and then my OH who has already been told he will have to help. I have just never cooked for this many people, and my kitchen & oven isn't big enough and I am thinking why the hell did I offer I should have started small haha.
Again sorry for having a moan.
I'm going to try to get a couple of those 4 bird roasts from Aldi using the £5 voucher in the Mirror on Thursday.
They are on offer then at £7.99 so it works out cheaper than a Turkey and according to the Daily Mail yesterday, they are coming out top in the taste tests. I've also got a nice whoopsied rib of beef which I'll bung in the slow cooker overnight.
I'll make my red cabbage with apple a couple of days before as it's better reheated. I'll also do the cauliflower cheese and the carrot and swede mash the day before and warm them through in the oven while the meats cooling. Same with the yorkshire puds. I often make them then just bung them in the oven for a couple of minutes while I'm dishing up.
For the starters I'm doing smoked salmon stuffed with prawns in a seafood and dill sauce so that's easy. And for the puds I'll make a trifle the night before and defrost one of the £1 profiterole gateaux on the day!
I'm determined not to spend all morning in the kitchen like I usually do.....and I'm bu&&ered if I'm doing any washing up either!!!My husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.0 -
Another one involves eating a bar of CDM
with a knife & fork :rotfl:
First person to roll a 6 on a dice gets to put on a coat, scarf, hat, gloves & then proceed to try & eat a wrapped CDM with knife & fork. Meanwhile the dice is still been rolled & the next person to get a 6 has to take the garments off them - put them all on & see if they can get through the CDM
Big coat is good & silly hat & big thick gloves a must :rotfl:Our Family Motto ~If all else fails - read the instructions...
